“simple but spotless, great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2009

I was apprehensive about the location looking at a map, but it ended up being a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants nearby, and a short walk to the middle of downtown for my business meetings. Breakfast was good rolls, juice, and coffee, but I would have liked cereal too. The best surprise was free shuttle to/from the airport! I'd easily stay here again.

I got a good deal ($89/night) for an OSU home game weekend. You get what you pay for. Thin walls, a room right next to an elevator that "dings" incessantly, a bit of a more "budget conscious" clientele. Wound up being a noisy experience.

The front desk guy we checked in with was extremely jaded; when we checked out, they tacked on a "room safe" fee (which, to their credit, they removed after I spotted it). Poor business practices there.

I'm not one of these hyper-critical, travel-review-site snobs, but I'd have dropped $30-40/night more and stay at a better place right on the same block in retrospect.

I had an excellent time at the Red Roof Inn in Columbus. Everything was A+, nothing was wrong with this hotel. The hotel has gone recent renovations and the rooms are superb and wonderfully accommodating. This hotel is in a perfect location to downtown Columbus and has all the features that you would not expect, staff is wonderfully nice, and I really liked the fact that all guests are allowed to go to a fitness center located 2 blocks away. I would recommend anyone to stay there. You won’t be disappointed.

This was one of the nicest PROPERTIES I have satyed in. Not as a Red Roof Inn, but ever! If this property were set in another location, it could be a Marriott. Fantastic rooms, very spacious (I was there for a month) and never felt closed in. Convenient to everything (abundance of restaurants within walking distance) and no need to spend cash on breakfast with an AMPLE continental breakfast and 24hr coffee. JJ and the rest of the staff were always there to lend a hand with directions, etc. An all arounf great location for a great cost. Why stay across the street for $100 more per night?

The staff at this Red Roof Inn was extremely helpful and courteous. They made sure that we were comfortable in our room and that everything was to our liking. Our room was very clean and comfortable. When we needed extra towels or other amenities the staff made sure we received them in a timely manner. The location of this Red Roof is perfect for Columbus because it's right in the heart of the city just minutes away from the Short North where there are plenty of nice restaurants to dine in. The nightlife in this area is also good. The only problem with the hotel is that their parking lot is too small.

Cheap parking and rates make this a good choice. A few warnings: internet is not free. You will have to pay for wireless, and it isn't cheap. Also the "continental breakfast" is just pre-wrapped Sara Lee muffins, bagels, coffee, and juice. There is no cereal, fruit, or any other option.

I had switched my hotel twice because friends of mine from Ohio told me that the other two were in bad locations, and I'm sure glad that I did. I had never been to Columbus before and was traveling alone to attend a week long course at Ohio State. This hotel was in a great location. Catching a bus to OSU was easy. Many of the places I wanted to see as a tourist were easy to walk to such as Short North, the Art Museum and the North Market. I would suggest going to Jeni's for ice cream and the Topiary garden for a look at "Sunday in the Park". For the hotel itself, the staff were helpful and the newly renovated top floors are where you want to be. I had a beautiful view of downtown, and my room felt very modern. I felt safe there, mainly because of the indoor corridors which makes it seem more like a hotel than a motel. There are other hotels in the area that have on-site fitness centers, pools and better breakfasts, but for the price, this was great.
