When you visit the Ohio Theater - it is not just the show you are going to enjoy but the whole ambiance! The architecture of this old building is absolutely beautiful! The acoustics are fantastic! Truly a gem!

“Great theater venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2012

The inside of the theater was completely sestored a few years back and has been very well maintained since. The enire inside is very ornate and the sound quality is fantastic for a place of its size. The seating is OK depending on the height of the person in front of you.

“A must-visit for locals and visitors alike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

Thanks to the late Mary Bishop for her tireless efforts that saved this treasure form the wrecking ball.

We've gone to the Ohio for many events over many years and have never been disappointed. I love the place, and enjoy stretching my legs at intermission by going from the main floor all the way to the upper balcony to take in the view of the stage, audience and the big chandelier.

For budget minded folks who want a high budget experience, the Summer Movie Series is the best bargain in town, and the annual concert by the Ohio University Marching 110 in November is an unforgettable experience.

The theater has a Morton 4/34 organ with four manual keyboards, 34 ranks(groups of pipes) and 324 stops. the theater organist plays before, during intermission and after each movie. Despite the huge size of the theater, the organ fills it with music. At least once a year, they show a silent film with a guest organist playing the score for the movie.

The Marching 110's show is a high decibel, high excitement event. High schools from all over send busloads of students to cheer on the band, and it's an evening not to be forgotten.

Finally, the theater itself is breathtaking in its baroque design, and the acoustics are wonderful. Seats are comfortable, with adequate legroom and the heating and cooling is always great.

The stage is top flight, able to hold the largest Broadway productions, bands and orchestras, so you will usually see the full sets of touring shows.

So, if you haven't been there, go. If you have, invite friends and neighbors to an event.

“Very nice and old with history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2011

Aside from the very well put together play we saw here we also learned a history of the theater how it was built over a hundred years ago All together it was a very nice evening. It's famous for its nutcracker play during the holiday season

“Sarah McLauchlan Concert at The Ohio Theater”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2011

I recently moved to Columbus and was impressed with the condition of the Ohio Theater. The last time I attended an event at the Ohio Theater was in the early 90's. Since that time It has been refurbished. The women's restrooms were plentiful and clean which is a rarity at concert venues.

The sound/lighting/ambiance exceeded my expectations. I will definitely attend an event here in the future.
