I love finding someplace new (to me) that has a creative chef, with great service, that doesn't require a second mortgage for us to dine at...because it isn't in a high rent-trendy-newest hot section of Columbus, restaurant.
Good friend picked this BCB on the advice of her son for her birthday dinner-figured it would be "good", however it was actually "very good" Hard for me to give an excellent, but they are close...maybe next time. Because I would enjoy returning to try other dishes.
Party of four, we all had very different entrees, and few complaints on the main courses. They did serve rolls, which I thought were rather tasteless...provided a flavored butter, but still didn't help. It's a unique restaurant...shouldn't rely on those buns. Anything else-flatbreads, pitas, something....I'd pass on the rolls.
I had the Confused Mussels, and considering I'm usually very leery on mussels....usually I'm disappointed (so why did I order them?) I'm not sure, but I figured give them a shot. The mussels alone were very good. However the pasta served with seemed like it was rather plain-and needed something. Served with more of a broth than a sauce. Think it needed something to thicken it a little. Husband absolutely died over the scallops. I got a small piece, very good. Other parties at the table had the duck gnocchi, excellent if you like gnocchi and the smoked salmon& baby arugula.......it was fantastic.
Topped it off with creme brulee for dessert.
Parking was easy-right across the street. Good selection of wines.
