My wife and I were in Columbus for the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament. After the first games we made the short walk from the arena to Bar Louie which had come highly recommended. It was late Friday afternoon, and was standing-room-only, filled with other basketball fans. We finally got two seats at the corner of the bar. We had a great time watching the games and meeting folks from all around in for the games, as well as the super-nice people from Columbus. Time to eat---we ordered the pretzels as an appetizer, and they were great. Interesting dipping sauces come with them. I decided that I would have a burger-the one with a fried egg on top. It was very good, and unique.
On to our bartender buddy. He had a section/corner of the bar about ten feet long. We NEVER got anything from him that we didn't have to flag him down and ask for it. He seemed to know the people sitting next to me, so I asked what his name was because I hate yelling "Hey!" to anyone. They told me he was Jeff. I called his name certainly loud enough for him to hear me (but not screaming) and he kept walking several more steps before slowly turning around. I asked for another beer or whatever, and he leaned over to his friends and said what I took as some very choice words to them for telling me his name! Soon my wife was hungry, and when we were able to summon Sir Jeff, she told him that she knew it wasn't on the menu, but she just wanted a plain hamburger patty-no bread, fries, anything. He severely rolls his eyes and heads for the register. She did get it, but what the hell? There are more examples, but you get the idea...
Over all, we enjoyed the place very much except when we had to interact with Jeff. It seemed to cater to an older (over thirty) crowd, so no craziness that you might find in some of the places close-by. Give it a try!
