First I have never made any reviews anywhere before but some stuff needs to be brought to your attention before making a reservation here. We have visited Fort Rapids every year for the past four years around this time and we always have a good time. Last year we started noticing a few things that may seem minor to most. First about 50 percent of the lights in the water park were not working. Second everything had dull rusty paint were the water was all of the time just to name a few. But had a good time. That was last year.....
This year we invited four other families to come with us. The front desk staff was polite. The room is a little outdated, but clean. But the water park itself has really gotten worse since our last visit. The first thing we noticed that over sixty percent of the lights inside the park were not working....still. This was very noticeable when the sun went down. All of the lights by the kiddie pool on the pole by the hot tub were not working. How can the lifeguards effectively see a drowning child in the shadows of the pool? Of course they don't want to highlight all of the mold or mildew above the lights on the wall near kiddie pool. Last year two lifeguards used to be at the top of the slides. Now one lifeguard mans all seven slides which seemed to work ok. There was a severe lack of lifeguards on staff when we were there. They were not able to open the two slides on activity center, basketball/adult pool, or some of the wave pool. They were able to open the slides for short amounts of time at times and the adult pool did open around noon.
If you just take a look around at the rusty paint, mold and green algae on top of small yellow slide, old swim noodles around the basketball rims that are about to come off, missing basketball nets, damaged activity in adult pool, and corrosion on all aluminum parts. Just minor things like that make us think that Fort Rapids is in "shut down" mode.
We recommend doing a day pass still. The kids do still have fun. Spend the extra cash and take your business someplace that actually cares.
