My family and I booked a night at Fort Rapids since it was in between my home in Pittsburgh and my mom and brother's homes in Cincinnati. We liked the fact they had a suite available with 4 bedrooms (including one with just a bunk bed in it). Our kids are all between the ages of 5-10 so we thought they would burn off some energy at the waterpark before settling down for a movie after dinner and some early Christmas presents.

We were a litte nervous before going since some of the reviews on Trip Advisor were pretty rough. However, we encountered none of the problems mentioned. I think the key may be staying in the "villas" which are obviously much newer than the original "main" hotel. I believe the hotel was/is the Holiday Inn East.

Check in and check out were uneventful. Front desk staff were prompt and helpful.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Pillows were lumpy but acceptable. Room had a small fridge, microwave and dryer. One bedroom had two double beds, and two others had one king each. One king bedroom is in the loft while the other two had full privacy. 3 full baths. Also, sofa had a fold out bed. Nice gas fireplace too.

We did not eat at the hotel but the food looked and smelled decent enough. The bar area was OK though the beer selection was boring.

Arcade is of decent quality. Basically a way to suck $20 out of a family in about 15 minutes!

The waterpack is just fine, particularly for families with kids our age. It was very comparable to the Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, Ohio. Our kids played for 3 hours straight. Waterpark appeared clean and water temp was good.

The bottom line is this place is nothing special but definitely not bad. We will likely return.

The waterpark was AWSOME!! My kids are 3 and 6 and they had a great time. Waterpark cafe was pretty pricey so run to McDonalds for lunch. Kids loved the arcade, but as with most arcades, we spent a fortune and left with a few quarter toys and some candy. The gem mining was pretty neat, but a lil pricey. As for the hotel it is beautiful. The lobby and bar were very nice! We stayed in a Bunk House Suite and it was nice, but very small. Hardley any room for kids to move around. I had read so many bad reviews, and was actually nervous about going, but not much of them were true. Nice clean hotel room and very cool waterpark! Overall our kids had a blast and we will be back!!!

Good waterpark, loved being able to let the kids ride the slides while I floated in the lazy river. Very convenient for families. Small hotel room, a little dated, but nice to have a fridge and microwave. Arcade was a rip off- machines didn't work right or they took your coins.

Has high hopes but was appalled by this run down filthy hotel. The lighting in room and waterpark is lousy, two of us have ear infections within 5 days of leaving. The elevators I will say we're always available. The water slides were even dirty. There was a loud party in one of the reception rooms, where loud rap music was being played.
