“Beautiful hotel with friendly staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

Wyndham is a perfect place for Cleveland Clinic visitors. My father was in Cleveland Clinic for four nights and I was relieved to find the Wyndham offered a Cleveland Clinic rate for people who are in town for medical needs. The hotel was beautiful and very clean. The staff were not only friendly but were compassionate. Finally, our bellman Kermit was superb, a great guy and was very informative about local restaurant locations. Everyday he asked us how our dad was doing in the hospital, he made us feel at home in a big city.

Room Tip: Mattress and bedding are perfect for people who love a soft bed.

Visited Cleveland one night for a Nicki Minaj concert at State Theater/Playhouse Square a few weeks ago. The Wyndham was selected for its location to the theater so I could walk my daughter and friend to the concert because I was not attending. Check in and out was easy and quick. Took advantage of the valet parking- no issues. Room was comfortable and very clean. Property seemed well maintained and extremely clean common areas. The food and drinks in bar area were good, and staff was attentive and pleasant. Late night for us so did not visit Encore the next morning for breakfast. Would recommend hotel to others and hope to return one day.

We were visiting Cleveland on a 4000 mile road trip. We stopped specifically to see the rock and roll hall of fame...awesome btw. Our stay was nice at the Wyndam. We were upgraded to a suite and it was beautiful. Half round room with sweeping view of lake erie and downtown. The room was super clean and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom where the toilet was is very dark, strange. The down sides were the hot tub pool area was disgusting, the hot tub was green! There was a stair well door right outside our bedroom that slammed until 2am. I am guessing it was people that worked there going between floors. It was jarring and woke me with a start about every hour. Lastly our tub did not drain well, minor for a one night stay. We did bring all this to the managers attention and she took notes and seemed very interested in improving. All in all a great hotel, we paid $169.00 for the suite and I felt that was a fair price.

Room Tip: Don't get a room near the stairs!

We can't do a long family vacation this summer due to lots of schedule conflicts. We decided that we wanted to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (after all, the heart of rock and roll IS in Cleveland...right?)
I found a terrific package at the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square, tickets to the museum, valet parking and shuttle service to the museum. i don't usually spend much on hotels. For us they are usually a place to stay on the way to somewhere, but this time, since the stay was the vacation, I decided it was worth it to stay downtown, near the museum, and revel in a little luxury. At least I was crossing my fingers and hoping for luxury.
We got it, luxury that is. At least for us. The hotel is nicely appointed. The staff is fabulous. Everyone I spoke to had a good sense of humor and appeared to enjoy interacting with the guests. We got in rather late on Friday night and immediately proceeded to have an overflowing toilet. (I felt like we were THOSE guests) We called the desk and help was there in a flash, with clean towels to replace the ones we'd used trying to mitigate the damage. The whole thing was cleaned up in a trice with apologies from the staff and wishes for a less exciting night.
The next morning I swam in the pool. The pool is long enough to be able to get in some good laps and is very clean. There is also a whirlpool and a sauna. I can see using those if I go back in the winter.
We ate breakfast in the Encore restaurant, the in-house restaurant. Among other items one can get an on-demand omelette. I didn't get the chef's name but he made the best omelettes. Great skill and good showmanship, entertainment with breakfast, watching him flip omelettes in the pan.
We spent a very long time at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (I recommend it) and got back to the hotel a little too late to get out to dinner so we decided to eat again in Encore. The food was incredible! Delicious and presented in top style. Our server was a young woman named Brianna. She will go far. She is smart and charismatic and her service made our dinner even more fun. We had a wonderful time, took our time and felt so welcome. That may sound silly, but we all have had experiences where we spend a lot of money for what should be a great dining experience then end up feeling like our presence is only tolerated. Not in this case.
Our check out experience was equally pleasant. (First, let me say that I have begun to believe that there is a direct correlation to the cost of a room and check out time. The more money you spend the later the check out. I have decided that I like being able to check out at noon.) We got down just a little too late to get breakfast and ten minutes too early for lunch. The desk clerk put our luggage in the check room, told us she'd have our car brought down and gave us directions to a really great little diner just around the back of the hotel. (Huron Square Deli) Breakfast all day and true short order cooking, well done. When we got back our car was there, our luggage retrieved and we were on our way.
The staff, all levels of staff, at the Wyndham, are great promoters of Cleveland. They told us about all sorts of activities and events we could enjoy then and in the future. They were hospitable and kind and made us feel very comfortable. This was a great experience all around.

The Wyndham staff provided first-class service for our daughter and son-in-laws wedding! Our guest complimented that this was the best wedding they ever attended. The service provided by your staff was by far the most excellent and superb service we have ever received! Christina worked with us for a year in planning the wedding and she was ever so accomodating. What ever we asked from her she would find a way to make it happen. Siri was our server during the wedding dinner and was tremendous! Our guests were treated like royalty! Every staff member from the top to the valet were professional and courteous. We would highly recommend the Wyndham at Playhouse Square to anyone that wants a first-class experience.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and provide a panoramic view of the city

Our family stayed for 16 nights and overall we were happy with our room and the service provided by the hotel staff. All of the staff was great especially Erica at the front desk who greeted us with a smile and by name. Trent was our favorite shuttle driver; he was always friendly and helpful. And Sherry in housekeeping was awesome! We do not travel much and I have never posted a review but wanted to make sure that the staff received the recognition they deserve for their service. The hotel rooms were large and they provided a fridge and cot at no extra charge. The cot was a little springy the first night, but after folding a couple of blankets and covering them with a sheet it was fine. I would agree with another post about the drain in the tub being slow, as ours had the same problem. We found that we needed to clean the trap after each shower and then it was much better. The pool area could have been a little cleaner, and the sauna was a bit worn, but my boys were happy to have a place to play. Our first morning there we decided to try breakfast in the restaurant. Once we were seated we were told that it was only buffet style breakfast. It was a good buffet, but a bit overpriced and it would have been nice for there to be a sign posted stating the price and that it was buffet style; being on a budget would have made a different choice. The shuttle was awesome for us! We saved a lot of money by not getting a rental and needing to pay for parking. We signed up for the shuttle as soon as we knew we wanted to use it, (sometimes a day in advance) mostly in the morning for the afternoon/evening. We used it at least once a day and except for one time when they had a shift change and the driver was 20 minutes late (not Trent) they were always on time and offering complementry bottle water. We understand that sometimes things happen and still feel that the staff has bumped this hotel from a 3 star to a 4 star stay. Being a Cleveland Clinic guest we were able to use a special quiet room equipped with a living room and game table. Our family was so thankful for this added space to spread out and read books, play games, or watch TV. Even though we were not on vacation, we were able to see a few sites around Cleveland which is really full of historic buildings and monuments. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is definitely a must see, could have easily spent two or three days to see everything. One of our favorite places to eat was The Huron Square Deli across from the hotel. Just a little diner style place but could easily feed our family of five breakfast or lunch for under $30. We also enjoyed the food at The Winking Lizard Tavern which was an easy walk from the hotel.

Our 27th. Wedding Anniversary was celebrated by a two night stay at the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square. My wife and I do not make it a habit of providing reviews, but the staff at the hotel were outstanding. Marta in the restaurant possess a superb knowledge of food and wines. Aaron in the bar is very communicative, friendly, and very attentive. Whitney at the front desk is very experienced at dealing with the public, as she is a former Flight Attendant. She is calm, accommodating and is an outstanding representative of the hotel management. Another server in the bar / restaurant was Yolanda, she was very kind and pro active in attending to the patrons. Our appetizer came out, and it was her belief that the Chef should include crackers with it, instead of just bread, thus she went, without asking, and presented us with crackers to accompany our goat cheese. The brunch is out of this world, it is all customer order, no pre made scrambled eggs for example, that have sat getting cold in a serving dish.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front provide a beautiful view of the lake, and the theatre district. Higher the floor...
