By and large, my stay was very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The concierge had great suggestions for food and fun. However... Shortly after I arrived it seemed like someone was trying to get into my room. It turns out it was housekeeping doing turn down service, but it startled me something awful. I wish they had mentioned that upon check in. I also noticed in the bathroom there was a used soap from the previous guest in the shower, and the garbage wasn't emptied in the main room. I was actually shocked by this since I've stayed at Marriott properties before and they were spotless.
The bed was very comfortable and the room temperature was easily adjusted to a nice level. Someone mentioned the odd shaped pool.. and they are right. It was weird. Although I didn't swim, I could see it from my room and it wasn't deep. It didn't seem to be terribly busy.
There was an issue with the elevators also, but it was resolved rather quickly. It's an old building so one cannot expect things not to fail.
I found that this property was close to some great places to eat. I was able to walk alone and feel safe even in the evening as there was a significant police presence.
If you are going for a convention as I did.. the Grand Ballroom is very nice with a balcony and a nice stage. The room temperature was good as well. The lighting was adequate as well.
The lobby of this hotel was beautiful. There was free wi-fi in the lobby as well. The couches were comfortable for lounging or visiting with friends. This hotel is connected to Tower City which has lots of great shopping, a food court and access to the trains.
