I had the opportunity to stay at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel last week. My GPS guided me to the front door, which is a plus considering the hotel is downtown. As others have mentioned parking is a pain, but once you are inside everything else is worth while. I had the valet guy park my car, which was $30.00, but since it was snowing, cold with wind blowing the price was reasonable. The front desk staff was very friendly and provided me with information on where to eat. The front door has stairs which could make it difficult for people with luggage.
I am a Platinum Premier Member with Marriott and was upgraded to a suite on the 10th floor. The club lounge was on the 12th floor. The suite was various nice and spacious with a Jacuzzi, and double shower. My profile which calls for extra towels and feather pillows was not followed, but it was late and I was tired so I decided my bother housekeeping. I noticed the room appeared in need of renovation. The carpet was pretty worn and stained, the doors on the cabinets had been pulled loose and was in need of painting.
I was very impressed with the club lounge; it was very large with separate rooms for guest to enjoy a drink and conversation. I arrived too late for the appetizers, but the leftovers looked delicious. I did enjoy some excellent dessert and the gentleman managing the club for the evening was very nice. I understand the evening and breakfast has both hot and clod items available.
When leaving in the morning I called down for my car and it still took the valet people about 20 minutes to bring my car around. The confessed that because of limited space even when someone calls down to have their car brought around, they do not get the cars until someone shows up with a ticket. While this hotel needs some improvement, I think it is worthy of the Marriott Flag.
