My girlfriend and I stayed one at the Renaissance Hotel and will probably not return. First off, the location is excellent, very central and close to all the sporting arenas, shopping, and dining. Their is even a mall (unfortunately rundown) and casino connected to the hotel. If location is all you are looking for than this is a great place. The decor and overall design is very elegant and nice to look at. The atrium and pool area is also a pleasantly nice place to hangout.
We didn't use room service or call the front desk so I cannot comment on that but the check-in process went smoothly.
Now for the bad, hotel parking is $25/night which is a little high but but considering its downtown fairly reasonable. The problem is that their is not direct entrance to the hotel from the parking lot. You have to leave the parking lot and walk past the parking gate to get into the hotel which is a pain if you need to go back to your car. Their is also plenty of parking across the street for about half the price.
The hotel is very noisy and the paper thin walls didn't help. I could clearly hear people's conversations in the hallway from the bathroom as I brushed my teeth. We stayed down the hall and away from the elevators but could still hear people throughout the night as they passed by.
As far as the room goes, everything was nice and clean except for the bathroom. The bathroom although clean was in need of an upgrade. The toilet looked like that of a public restroom and the bathtub floor was squishy as if there was water stuck underneath. It was sub par compared to the rest of the room. Would have also like to have had a fridge and free Wi-FI.
We stayed in three different hotels that weekend (the other two being Sheratons) and this one was the worst stay (although not horrible) considering the price. Luckily I got a good deal, their is not way I would pay normal weekend rate. I can only recommend this place if you are staying with a group and not looking for a romantic "luxury" experience.
