“Great all round experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012

Beautiful renovated hotel within walking distance of great restaurants, mass transit and the ball park. Check out the Sans Souci restaurant in the hotel. The food and service is outstanding. I will make this hotel my regular stay for business.

Pros:
-Good location downtown
-Attached to a mall (as in you do not have to go outside)
-Attached to the train station (in the mall)
-Has a small bar inside
-Walking distance to Progressive Field, Quicken Center, and 4th Street
-Walking distance to Browns stadium if the weather is nice
-Clean rooms, nice bedding
-Overall clean, classy hotel

Cons:
-No free internet, it is $14 a DAY
-No free breakfast, in fact it is $16
-Heating/cooling was hard to control in the room. Older register style heat/cool. Would not hold a constant temp so was either too hot or cold.
-Many of the rooms overlook an alleyway
-If you have an alleyway room, it is very loud in the am with service trucks
-The elevators are very slow
-Wake up call is an actual person calling, and mine was 6 minutes late

Room Tip: Ask for one that overlooks the street or pool, NOT the alleyway. Too loud.

My husband and I have stayed here three times over the past two years - twice for the film festival, and once when we came to town for a concert. The location is great for the film festival, you don't even have to step outside to go the movie theater, shopping, and lots of restaurants. Most recently, it appeared that the hotel was in the process of renovations and the renovations are making big difference. The hallways and rooms just seem cleaner and fresher and more modern. Bed was comfortable and appeared new. New flatscreen TV with great channel selection. Nice bathroom. The gym and pool are adequate. This will probably continue to be our go-to hotel when we want to stay in downtown Cleveland.

Avoid this place as if your life depended on it! Starting with the disgusting over-priced parking garage...I was afraid the leaking, chipped, concrete ceiling was going to be on the roof of my car when I left!

The staff is the most unfriendly, rude, and basically uncaring group of hotel employees I've ever encountered! Marriott should be ashamed to even associate their brand with this place! Horrific check-in process, once again, incompetent staff. Upon check-out, I found an additional $200 charge placed on my account for "incidentals'. When I questioned this process, was told "it's just the way it is, you'll probably get your money back within a week"! NICE!!! When asked to speak to a manager, was told that he was not in or available. A hotel with no manager on duty??? Why!!!

We were upgraded to a Club Level due to our Elite status...however, the massive party and whatever was being smoked in the room next door, until 5 am, put quite a bad spin on the initial night!!! Security did come up, but simply asked for them to be quiet, even when he could clearly smell illegal drugs.

The room was recently renovated, and very comfortable. However, the shower-head was hanging from the wall and the air/heat unit did not work. Housekeeping did not even show up until after 5pm! The Club Lounge was closed the entire weekend, so having access to it was mute and disappointing.

Don't bother going to Tower City for shopping...I was nearly mugged by one of the multiple shady characters loitering and following people around! There is police presence, however, they were primarily congregated together by the front doors, talking to each other. It's extremely unsafe! We also witnessed multiple drug deals, a car accident/fight in front, and several other "issues" directly outside of the hotel. It's best to stay in your room!!!

Overall, this hotel is a travesty! I felt safer and was treated 100% better when in NYC! This stay gives a greater understanding why Cleveland has sunk to the disgusting level it is at! No amount of "revitalization" will help if you have horrific staff with a terrible attitude!

Marriott...you are failing completely with this hotel!

Room Tip: It's impossible to choose a good room...Even if you request something specific, it's all the...

I stayed for 2 nights for business. It was easy to get to from the airport. I just took the RAPID subway for $2.25 and got off at the Tower City exit. There is an exit right through the mall that leads you to the hotel.

I stayed on the 12th floor and was told by the staff that all of those rooms were recently renovated. The decor was contemporary, the bed- incredible!-, and plenty of channels to surf through on tv.

Nearby is the House of Blues, which was a fun detour for dinner.

Room Tip: the 12th floor is newly renovated

Stayed one nite in Feb 2012. Had 2 queens, nice size room, two heaters, two big windows, city view. Bathroom was for handicapped folks although we are not. It was nice though, had a seat that folds down and you can sit under the water. Pool area is an Atrium on 5th floor, but you can walk down to it from the 6th floor. Used exercise room, small but adequete. 2 treadmills, some sit down bikes, (the nice ones), couple elip. machines, small weight room area. Pool was pretty, water warm. Usually don't mention food in my reviews but just have to. We did room service for a snack, chicken wings good, dinner we had organic chicken and herb crusted haddock and these meals were the best room service food we have ever had. Omelette the next morning, very good. Tony at room service was excellent at taking our numerous questions before ordering dinner and they called to make sure all was good and food came within 30 mins. Nice relaxing place, would definately stay again while in Cleveland!
