“The Heart of Cleveland Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2011

I stayed at this hotel for business and have to say the stay was better than I thought it might be. I thought it might be a loud disturbing hotel based on its sheer size. Thankfully I was wrong. Part of that had to be because they placed me on a business floor instead of a lower floor that would face the open arcade center where noise echos. I did find it amusing that the room had probably the highest ceilings I've seen in a hotel room. The only sort of flaw with the room is that they have old TVs instead of newer flat screens. Not a big deal but would make the room feel a little newer. The front desk people were very friendly. The restaurant staff was nice as well. A word of caution. If you plan on having breakfast at their restaurant over the weekend, plan on getting there on the earlier side. I got there at a prime time and it seemed they only had one person taking orders and running the floor. I was upset about it but it wasn't the waitstaffs fault. It was the fault of the restaurant for not hiring more people for the weekend. Since I was there for work, I wish room service ran later than it does.
The hotel for being in downtown Cleveland is surrounded by outside eating options. It might be the only hotel in the city with so many options in walking distance which is primarily why I picked this property. I would stay at this property in the future when I return to Cleveland for work.

The Hyatt Arcade is in a coverted 19th century arcade right in the heart of Cleveland. There is no customer parking but there is a good valet service when you pull up. You are immediately greeted with a large galleried arcade interior. The staff were all very helpful and I can even two weeks later recall names (Fred, Rachel, Erin, Veronica etc). The rooms are not huge and the batthroom is small by USA standards but I guess they are stuck with the original floorplan. The 1890 restuarant is okay but there are so many good restuarants nearby you should get out to sample them plus at weekends 1890 closes if the Hotel is not busy. Cleveland's top restauarant La Lola is a 5 min walk and the treny warehouse district is a 10 min across the main square. The Chocolate Bar in the arcade offers tasty snacks and meals. Highly recommended for good service, value for money and location. Only downsides are building/air cond seems noisy at night almost like being on an ocean liner, gym but no pool and the rooms are small.

This room was booked on hot-wire for only $67.00 so fit the price it was great. The hotel is going through some renovations but this didn't interrupt our stay. Advertises flat screen tvs but not the case. The bathroom is nice and clean , however our toliet didn't flush however this was quickly resolved. I would recommend the chocolate bar restaurant located in the arcade. Also nic at the valet is awesome!!

Wow. You have to step in and see for yourself - remarkable design. The hotel room has very high ceiling and quite spacious. The food at the "1890 at the Arcade" was surprising great and the waitress was wonderful.

The 3 days we spent last weekend were delightful. At check-in the staff were courteous and helpful. The history of the Arcade was so interesting that you could almost see the men and women strolling through from years past. The rooms very warm and cozy with a bed that put you to sleep instantly! They were clean and neat. The 1890 Restaurant had a menu for every taste and the breakfast was presented with thought. The Chocolate Bar restaurant at the other end of the Arcade was equally as delicious and moderately priced. The staff could not do enough for us.We would have loved to stay longer to enjoy the ambience. Anyone who gives this hotel a bad review has to be blind!

The location is fabulous with views of the Arcade from inside the Hotel and is within walking distance of Lake Erie's waterfront venues. However, checking in and out was like standing in line at the airport, with employee's shuffling you along with no personal attention. Our room had a nice view with large windows, but the furnishings were very old and worn out .... Quite frankly the arm chair was "tatty" and should have been placed in the dumpster years before. We were there in February, which is a very cold time of year in Cleveland and the bath water was barely warm, never hot, the entire time ..... Very disappointing! We have no intention of staying there again.

I booked this room based on the fact that when travelling, our party of four likes to stay in older, historic hotels. As this is our modus operandi, we are prepared for some of the bugaboos that come with staying in an older property. That being said, the Hyatt was a great experience. Our room faced the arcade and backed onto the parking garage...not very scenic but I'm not here to stare out the windows. The room smelled a little, but it smelled of industrial cleanser, not unclean. A visit to a shop in the mall a couple of blocks away and I had some room freshener. Not a deal-breaker.
As others have mentioned, the furniture is worn out, but whatever. I use hotel chairs basically to hold my discarded clothing, so no biggie. Our king bed was comfortable, and the sheets were nice and soft in that way that only a thousand washes can make them. There were lots of pillows available on the bed too. My only real comfort complaint is that the towels are a little thin for this day and age. But the bathroom was modern, clean and large and there was a mat for the slippery tub, so good.
My only negatives are minor--I booked through Hyatt's website (even though I could have gotten the room for less through one of the travel websites I usually use) thinking it might make a difference--in something). I used their econcierge service to request robes for our room. These never materialised, and frankly I forgot about it until about Saturday evening of the weekend stay. I decided not to bring it up, since it was no big deal and we were not in the room that much anyway. And as others have mentioned, there are no coffee makers in the rooms. Hyatt might want to check that on the booking sites.
We came to Cleveland to party, and we had a blast. The staff at this hotel played a great part in that. I will mention that they are the most friendly, polite, and warm people I have encountered at a hotel in a long time. From the front desk folks, to the doorman, to the concierge, they were all very nice and chatty and helpful, full of suggestions and enthusiasm about the city and I commend the hotel for having them. It put a very positive spin on the weekend and the city in general.
The hotel is located right downtown, within walking distance to shopping, the warehouse district and all its bars and restaurants, the stadiums (if you're here for a game) and backs right on to the 4th st. party central. Cabs are easy to get and it's only a few minutes to Little Italy, the art museum, or the must-visit Westside Market and Great Lakes Brewery.
I'm going to recommend this hotel because it's a great value for the money, and its people are great.
