“Would choose to stay here again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

I'm giving this a rating of excellent since I think it is an excellent choice in Cleveland. I always like to have extra towels when I stay at a hotel and the Marriott left them for me in the room along with a note! We had a cool view of the lake and football stadium. We were able to walk to restaurants and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have self parking and valet parking ($5 more). We appreciated the breakfast that we qualified for as Marriott gold members. The room and bathroom were very clean. We could hear a little noise from the hallway, but it was basically a quiet hotel.

Room Tip: Enjoyed the lake view

My family chose this hotel for two days in April while in town for a family event. The valet was professional and timely and check in was professional and efficient. Our rooms were clean and well appointed, We ate at the restaurant for breakfast each day and the buffet was very good. The bar was good and the evening appetizers were tasty. I like the fact that it is a bit away from the casino, but you could walk there if you want. I've stayed at the other "high end" hotels in downtown Cleveland (which are really starting to look worn), and this is the nicest.

We would give this probably a 5 star if it weren't for the incident which occurred at time of checkout. The entity which sponsored this seminar had given all participants who attended a voucher for $20 to defray the parking charged by the hotel. We choose valet parking which was $25 and nowhere on the voucher did it mention "cannot be used for valet parking". When my husband turned in the voucher that's exactly what he was told. After coming home, we decided to call the hotel and speak to a manager. He stated the same as we were told at checkout but added that the Marriott would mail us a check for $5! We told the manager that apparently they needed the cash more than we did so " just keep it." This left a bitter taste in our mouths and every time anyone mentions Marriott we will remember this incident.

Thank you for your feedback. I want to apologize for the inconvenience you had with the parking at the hotel. We will certainly use your input to work with the group contact on communicating parking charges at future meetings.

That is what you expect and that is what is delivered. Stylish, well-maintained, with efficient and personable service from beginning to end. The hotel is well-located for business as well as personal travel. Many great restaurant choices close by in the warehouse district and the terminal tower center. David's in the hotel has a good and substantial buffet breakfast that is worth getting a room package which includes it. Our package included breakfast and valet parking which we found to be a good deal. You can walk to both the R&R Museum and the Science Center in less than 15 minutes. We had a room on the 22nd floor which had a great view north to the lake front. Beware of rooms facing west as you will look across at a much older high rise and nothing else. Easy to get to the football stadium as well.

Checking was friendly, fast and efficient. The front desk clerk was perfunctory and helpful. He knew the area and was able to offer suggestions for dinner. First impression was good but warm and welcoming don't come to mind.

The room is on the 24th floor and faces north and west. We are high enough up that we can look over the rooves of nearby buildings and see the lake and parts of the city.

The room is freshly renovated and I can still smell new wallpaper. Bed is comfortable and clean.

Small little things that would make a big difference: when you walk into the room, there is a big clunky dresser with a television in top. There is also a desk jammed right beside it with pillows and towels on top. Feels a bit like a storage room. As well, no storage shelf in the bathroom for extra towels so it is a little awkward. Not a deal-breaker at all, but it is the small details really can make an experience.

Free high speed wifi is also great.

Room Tip: Choose a corner room on the highest floor you can get.

Everything you expect from Marriott--clean, upscale, convenient downtown location. I'm a repeat customer and always have returned.

Friend stayed at the Residence a few blocks away. Same price, but free breakfast, managers reception Mon-Wed, and internet. So you decide, freebies, or upscale finishes.

The location is great, the rooms were nice and spacious (except paint chipping off on bathroom ceiling). The hotel has excellent views of the city and lakefront. The elite lounge was under construction and the new temporary location was not very welcoming and I couldn't find any of the ammenities typical to the lounge and left. My associate and I did not particularly enjoy the restaurant, even the server was upset on so many items that were not available or even how they were prepared. Unfortunately the Spinach dip and turkey burger that I ate came back up around 1AM. Until restaurant management changes and the elite lounge is rennovated, I suggest staying at the Renaissance a few blocks away, which I have stayed several times and have enjoyed with no issues. Lastly, for those with kids that like to bring their systems, their TVs do not allow external inputs. On a good note, Hotel staff is very friendly.
