“A Very Poor Dinning Experience!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

Our family had booked our Family Reunion main meal at the Sterle's Slovenian Country House in Cleveland Ohio. The restaurant is located in one of the worst areas of Cleveland but that set-aside we all had a solid and positive outlook.

They have a nice selection of imported draft beer and nice atmosphere. We had a nice large private room for our group of 50+. The food was served "family style" and was warm., and the service was OK.

Outside of those positive points listed above, everything else was bad, really bad. The food was tasteless and very limp. I lost count as to how many family members developed diarrhea including myself. All in all our Family Reunion Meal was not a very good adventure!

I suggest you think twice about eating food at this restaurant.

“Very disappointing!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Before taking this trip to Sterle's I read many glowing reviews of this restaurant, so I was expecting great things. I was so disappointed. The "old world charm" must mean dark, fake wood paneling which literally covers the place. Now, this could have been overlooked if the staff was friendly and fun - no such luck - rude. The staff members busing the tables pushed carts full of dirty dishes throughout patrons bumping your elbows. My husband told me not to turn around because they were cleaning the uneaten food into a container right behind me, and it was splashing up because it was too full (gross). They proceeded to leave the cart right behind my chair. I would have even overlooked that it the apple strudel was so "off the chart" like the reviews said. It was not. It was cold, dry, overpriced and tasteless. I'd rather have had a poptart.
Now, the average age of the patrons was about 70 which isn't a bad thing because the best part was watching them dance - graceful and lovely. Watching a grandfather teach his granddaughter to polka was great, but, unfortunately, the patrons that happen to be there on a certain night, are not supposed to be the only impressive aspects of this restaurant.

“Walk back in time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

What a hidden gem in Cleveland, saw it on the food network "diners, drive-ins and dives" and had to go. All of the wait staff wear traditional bavarain type outfits. The chicken noodle soup was home made and out of this world. Old time cooking with stuff cabage, pierogis, weiner schnitzle, sausage and sauerkraut. They even had an old time polka band and dancing on Saturday night. What an evening we had, it's not really in downtown Cleveland but a little past downtown. The place looked a little dark and not sure about going but we decided we were already there and let's give it a try. We wewre not disappointed either, within about 30 minutes the place was jam packed with people of all ages. This is definityly a must see when in Cleveland. I will definitly go back on my next trip to Cleveland,

“Great fun for the entire family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012

Loved this place. It was a mix of great traditional food. It was great to see people of all ages coming to enjoy the food and the fun entertainment. Everyone was up on the dance floor in between eating the great food. Just a wonderful evening.

“Good Food and Polka Too!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2012

What a fun evening! Saturday night at Sterle's with traditional Eastern European fare. Weinersnitzel, sour kraut pitchers of beer and dancing, or watching. This is evidently the place locals go to celebrate their varied European heritage. The food was served family style and was very tasty. Sausages, pork loin, boiled potatoes etc... Near the Cleveland Clinic so a fun weekend diversion. For a Southern boy this was all a treat. Good service, friendly atmosphere. Give it a try.
