“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012 via mobile

The hotel is a good choice if staying at the Cleveland clinic. Price was really good. Only complaint was the valet parking. They parked my vehicle in an open parking lot in a dirt and stone lot. Not cool.

Thank you for taking time to write a review for us. We really appreciate it. I do however want to apologize that our parking lot was going through a renovation during your visit. It has since been completed paved and ready for your return.

This didn't feel like a chain hotel (although we very much appreciated the signature arrival cookies). The building is beautiful from the outside and inside. I would have liked to learn more of its history. We all gave a collective "Wow" when we entered our room. The decor is so modern against the character of the building--in a good way for us. The beds were dreamy, and the bathroom very pretty. We were there over Fourth of July and enjoyed watching firework displays to our north from the cool old glass in the great windows of our room. The Cleveland Clinic (not why we were there) is "next door" in a massive way. We took a several block walk through some of it and grabbed dinner and picked up food for breakfast from the 24 hour Au Bon Pain there. Breakfast is available at the hotel, but the $14 per person "deal" the desk clerk recommended would have been $50+ for the four of us--not our style for breakfast. Parking is $16 valet in the secured lot next door. My teens were disappointed at first to learn this hotel didn't have a pool, but they were won over by the character of the room. We would definitely enjoy staying here again.

Room Tip: A north facing room will probably give the best view.

Thank you so much for the kind words about our hotel. On the next trip we will have to get you a tour of the building. I am glad you got to enjoy the University Circle and Au Bon Pain. The pool is on the agenda to be completed sometime next year we will keep Trip Advisor posted.

I say that because there is no mention of this in any reviews. Though we drove around and couldn't find a nice side of town! The hotel suite was very nice though. Almost empty hotel
when we were there. Waitress at breakfast was very rude. No pool.

Room Tip: Views at top floors.

I`m truly sorry that you feel are neighborhood is shady. the area of the hotel is in is secured by three different police departments (cleveland police , university circle police . cleveland clinic police. we also have security on property in the evening. the pool is a massive renovation that will begin soon. so i hope you will give us another chance in the future.

This hotel is a newly refurbished old time great in Cleveland. It is very close to the Cleveland Clinics and a short distance from the Applied Industrial Technologies headquarters.
This place was a Cleveland landmark at one time. It has a cool history with a guest list that includes all kinds of celebrity's from the 1930's. But somewhere along the way the inner city of Cleveland turned bad and the hotel died a slow death. Today, Cleveland is coming back and this place could be a corner stone in the neighborhoods renovation. But, truth is the neighborhood has a ways to go. I probably would have given this place nearly perfect marks if I could say the area surrounding was cool and clean - its not.

Stayed here for business when needing to be close to the Cleveland Clinic - location didn't dissapoint for that, I walked to my meeting at the Cleveland Clinic. Couple of initial notes...there is forced valet currently, which was not noted on my companies website. I have no problem with Valet, but was frustrated that it was a forced extra fee and that it meant easy access to my car was not available. That being said...the hotel itself was very nice. The room was lovely and spacious (with hardwood floors!) and the bathroom, while small, was upgraded and nice. Water pressure could have been better (Awesome shower heads, just lack of pressure to them). Room service food was pretty "eh". I got a burger and it was clearly not a fresh/handmade burger; fries were good though and staff was VERY friendly. The gym was decent, although a bit small. Water bottles were provided which was nice and the machines were nice. It was a tight space though and very popular when I was there (I was the 6th person in the room), so it felt pretty crammed.
Overall, nice hotel, but a little pricey.

this place is the best Hilton! met at the car by valet, took our luggage up to the room for us, very friendly, giving us a bit of history (which I love!) WARM chocolate chip walnut cookies. Carzel (?) at the front desk found out I liked them, and always had them waiting for me! Room was a good size, very inviting, and very clean. Beds very comfy! The shower was amazing!! shower head on the ceiling and the wall, you could do both, or just one! Will definitely come back again!
