“You can't say anything bad about the Cleveland Metroparks!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

If you're a nature lover, like myself, you can completely immerse yourself in nature, be it fishing, hiking, swimming, bike riding, picnicking, or anything to do with nature, you will absolutely love the miles and miles of this park. It's called the Emerald Necklace because it circles the Cleveland area from northwest to southwest to southeast to northeast. There's lakes for fishing and swimming, miles of bike trails, and picnic tables almost everywhere. It's kept very clean and the metro park rangers are constantly riding through the park if you have any kind of problem, they are there to help you.

“An Amazing Asset for the city of Cleveland and its suburbs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

I don't know if there are any other cities that have a similar park system covering such a large area, but the Cleveland Metroparks system, often referred to as the Emerald necklace, encircles Cleveland and its eastern, southern, and western suburbs with a natural system of reservations offering a staggering array of opportunities for people of all ages and physical capacities to get outdoors and enjoy nature. Because there are so many offerings, the best way to learn what's available is to visit the Cleveland Metroparks website and read through that. No matter what season of the year you visit, you are sure to find something beautiful to see, and fun to do. Biking and hiking trails are plentiful, there is golf, horseback riding, archery, fishing, etc. There are picnic spots, Nature Centers, programs, classes. Too much to list here. People who are lucky enough to live near an entrance to the Parks will return often, but even one who visits Cleveland infrequently, or even just once, should make an effort to get out into one of these Reservations and enjoy nature almost in the heart of a bustling, busy, urban location. How lucky we are that some people had the foresight to set aside such a large parkland for the enjoyment and education of its citizens.

“The Brookside Reservation is our solace in the city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

When living in my Clark-Fulton neighborhood becomes more than I want to bear, we escape to the beautiful calm of the Metroparks' Brookside Reservation.

Offering several miles of paved all purpose paths and a number of off road trails, Brookside is a fabulous place to walk the dogs while enjoying the nature that abounds in the city.

With changing terrain throughout the reservation, I look forward to more frequent trips to Brookside improving my general health, level of physical fitness, and overall well being.

Whether looking to relax, play, or celebrate with friends and family, clean, safe and well maintained Brookside Reservation is THE place to escape in the city.

“A Jewel around Cleveland's Neck”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

The Emerald Necklace, for those not familure with the term, is a chain of parks that link almost etirely around the Cleveland suburbs. I has a Bike/running path most of this way and also links downtorn Cleveland to the suburbs without having to get on a highway. The roads in the park and low speed roads and are tree lined to create and outdoor wonderland in the citys in and around Cleveland. The Metopark system is a county wide system that is tax payer supported and maintained. It has everything from golf courses to boating clubs to horseback riding. It can be reached by driving in almost any diriction from Public Square out into the suburbs and watch for the signs leading to it. It is just a great place for picnics or just waxing your car to get away for an hour and relax.

“A Park for every taste”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

Many cities have beautiful parks, but Cleveland has the most extensive system of interlinked parks of any city that I know. Some part of the park is easily accessible from all parts of the city with an abundance of cycling, walking and bridle trails throughout.

If mountain biking is your thing visit the Royalwood area between Rt 82 and and W130th St where there are several trails through beautiful and sometimes rugged woodland and ravines. This is also an excellent area for hiking or walking your dog in a peaceful and spectacular setting - walk 5 minutes from the road and you'll pretty much have the woods to yourself! Just north of Rt82 there is a bird watching blind that overlooks wetlands with all sorts of wildlife and a little further along there are winter tobogganing chutes.

The parks are overall very well maintained and kept clean, everyone in Cleveland and it's suburbs should be proud of this excellent system.
