Tried to "pop" in at just after 1 pm on a Saturday and wasn't in a massive hurry, but was trying to find some place local to eat before heading back to finish a seminar I was in town for. I didn't think this was an issue having missed the major lunch rush. The restaurant was relatively empty with what appeared to be plenty of servers. Our waitress was sweet, but started out with "I guess I'll be your server" we got the impression that she was supposed to be off shift after lunch and "got stuck with us." I did appreciate the fact that she let the other person I was with choose a hamburger off the children's menu, as he does not have a palate for Mexican cuisine and there were no non-Hispanic options on the regular menu. He did say the french fries were excellent, so I guess if you're looking for french fries at a Mexican place, that's a plus. I ordered the pick 2 entree with a chicken enchilada and chicken soft taco. Considering our basic order, I felt like the 20 minute food wait was excessive and our waitress was either distracted or inexperienced, we waited what I considered to be a beyond reasonable time period for her to take our order and refill our drinks as well. I think the wait would've been reasonable with a packed house and backed up kitchen, but it just seemed like something in the serving wheel was squeaky. Our waitress really did try to be sweet, but something just felt "off." The chicken soft taco was extremely bland, and I'm not a huge fan of super spicy, but it seemed like there was not much to it. The saving grace was the enchilada, it was served in its own baking dish and was superb. Salsa was chunky and average at best. The environment it self is lovely and unique with a spiral central staircase to a semi-open kitchen and more seating in the lower level. Definitely seemed like its forte is weekday business lunches and not weekend visitors. I was really bummed, I love Mexican food and this place came recommended by our hotel staff and was within walking distance. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but I doubt I would go back. We also witnessed the table next to us get their ticket comped by the manager as they had an issue with their meal as well, which I thought was professional, but reinforced that it must've been a rough day for this particular restaurant.
