“Awesome, classic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

Great overall experience here during the recent snowstorms. Older hotel but updated and clean, thought the long wide hallway with big wooden room doors had my flash back to the Shining movie, that could have been because I was exhausted and my flight got in late. Staff was super nice, room was great and breakfast was really good with great selection and a huge room with plenty of tables and space. There are some cute restaurants nearby but I didn't have time to try them. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 rating was that they could not get me a cab. Downtown Cleveland should be able to summon a cab in less than 30 minutes but it did not happen. Ended up walking 3 block dragging my suitcase in the snow to the casino nearby to get one.

Having read the other (mixed) reviews I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Fortunately, I can report that I don't have anything to complain about. All of the staff were very friendly and helpfull, the room and bed were comfortable and clean, the breakfast was very good and the location was within walking distance to alot of resturants and shopping. Admittedly, the building was built in a different age but it has been well maintained and gives the guest the impression of living in a grander time (we've been watching Downton Abbey...). I have no qualms suggesting this hotel.

I really like this hotel. I stayed here for six nights recently. In fact, I have stayed at 8 different hotels in Cleveland in the past four months. Have stayed at two more since my Residence Inn stay. I find it very homey, nicely furnished, cosy with the fireplace, and the lounge chair with footstool is so comfy. The kitchen has everything you would need. I just checked out of another "Suites" hotel in cleveland, and the mini kitchen there had a small fridge and microwave, but no dishes or silverware, only two glasses and two coffee mugs. I liked the breakfast at Residence Inn, although it was identical each day; the evening social hour was also nice: not just chips/dip, but real food (ex. stuffed baked potatoes, sandwiches, etc). It was a plus that they had a lovely large clean laundry room, off the sunny arcade, and it only cost $1.50/load to wash (my other recent hotel charged $5/wash and $4/dry). The front desk staff were great!! I miss Residence Inn, but I needed to be closer to Cleveland clinic. The minuses are: they don't provide shuttle service to Cl Clinic, although the information in the room inidicates they do; and the fitness room is tiny. Fitworks, which used to be in the arcade and could be utilized by hotel guests, has closed. Perfect location for watching the Cavs play home games.

Room Tip: I was on the 5th floor, and toward the inner arcade, so didn't hear street noise. A Euclid room...

Great place to stay if you have a group going to a basketball, baseball or hockey game. Just across the park from Quickens Loan Arena and Progressive field is just beyond the Arena. It is in the Warehouse District with lots of cool eating establishments. The hotel actually wraps around an old arcade which is very cool. Whoever designed this hotel must have had fun. Lots of hallways elevators and floors. The breakfast was good and included. We were able to sleep five in the suite we had. Two bedrooms and a pull-out coach in the living room. Appliances were a little dated but worked ok. A great idea to have frozen meals in the lobby to cook in the room.

Room Tip: I almost always use Booking.com. Not sure what the Marriott Rewards website displayed. Be sure you g...

This Residence Inn is a bit long in the tooth, and the building is probably historic. The doors to the rooms appear to be the original doors on the rooms, and could be updated for both noise and security reasons.

The room was slightly smaller than typical Residence Inn's, and a bit dated. However, it was fairly priced for downtown Cleveland, at $139 a night, plus $18 a night for parking. Be warned that on a Friday or Saturday night you might be greeted with a bit extra noise from the street below, due to the number of bars in the area.

All of the hotel staff were friendly, from the front desk clerk, to the breakfast hostess. (The breakfast itself was a bit on the weak side)

Would I stay here again? Only if I needed to be in downtown Cleveland....

Room Tip: Get as high as you can to avoid street noise.

We have stayed at then hotel several times. Its a great location, has great service and the rooms are pretty comfortable. But every time we stay there no matter what floor we are on, there is a smell of curry permeating throughout...its very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Seems like the 'residents' there leave their doors open while cooking. Its really unpleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for a no curry floor.

Chose this hotel for the location, and ended up with a wonderful suite with complete kitchen, evening social hour with food and beverages, full hot breakfast buffet, heated parking garage, and helpful staff. Rooms are gorgeous with old world charm, including high ceilings and tall windows, and comfortable beds. It was so quiet, we didn't hear anyone or anything from inside our room. The shopping arcade next door is charming. I wholly recommend this hotel to anyone staying downtown Cleveland, if you want to be near the casino, the Q, Progressive Field, the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, or the theater district.

Room Tip: Second floor suites are quiet, and you are only steps to the evening social hour and/or breakfast bu...
