“Great hotel - quiet - easy Cleveland access”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

I selected this hotel because it was across the street from Quicken Loans Arena, but I will be back. I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton down the street a month ago, and I like this hotel better. It has old-world charm - the rooms are huge - and the staff was very friendly. You can walk to the casino or other venues easily, but the noise from the street was minimal after hours. Our 1 bedroom suite had full size appliances - and did I mention the room was huge ??

Room Tip: I was on the 6th floor -

Great location - literally across the street from the Q (Quicken Loans Arena) where the Cav's play. Walking distance as well to Indians Progressive Stadium (beside the Q). Plethora of eating options nearby: Chipotle, The Chocolate Bar, The Spread (At Horseshoe Casino), Red (Steakhouse), etc.

Room Tip: Is there a better location downtown?

The Residence Inn is perfectly situated between East 4th street which is filled with restaurants, bars and entertainment venues and Quicken Loans arena. The hotel itself was fine, as others have noted parking is convenient but awkward. It's down an alley to the underground, not sure what you'd do if someone was coming the other way. The room itself was a standard suite but was clean and had all the amenities you'd need. Didn't hear anything about a breakfast buffet so if that's supposed to come with the room be sure to as. The reason to stay here is the location.

This was my first visit to this Residence Inn and overall it was great! The location is perfect; within walking distance of restaurants & bars, including Flannery's Pub, the Wonder Bar, and the House of Blues. Check-in was smooth with the minor glitch of having to find parking as their lot was full. We parked across the street in a secured lot which worked out great. The building is unique as it is an old, historic building causing the room set-up was a modified version of their usual floorplan. It would have been great for some information to be available about the history of the building.

The daily breakfast buffet was held in a room on the second floor overlooking the Arcade; it still had beautiful stained glass windows from the former Colonial Hotel. However, I was surprised they only had paper plates and plastic utensils and cups; not the usual wares. The food selection was OK, but seemed to a bit more limited than the usual.

Sleeping, as usual, was great on Marriott's signature bed, which was great after a long day of traveling and exploring Cleveland's nightlife!

We stayed at the Residence Inn for only 1 night. I had high expectations for it based on reviews, the fact that its a Marriott property and its location, but was disappointed. Check-in process was slow and parking set up a bit odd. However, we were very grateful for the convenient location directly below the hotel. The hotel is a very old hotel that has been renovated into a suite hotel. It is connected to one of the old arcades which is beautiful, but they don't really take advantage of this with any direct access. The breakfast buffet which is included in the price of the room was good with a lot of food options and was located in an old banquet type room with beautiful stained glass ceiling, but the room itself and the buffet made me feel like I was in a dorm. I don't know if this hotel actually has residents in it or caters to the local colleges, but all of the furniture in the guest rooms and public areas was clunky, uncomfortable dorm style furniture. Hallways leading to the rooms had shiny painted walls with glaring yellow fluorescent lights. The worst was when we got to the room and checked out the bed. The sheets looked like they had been slept in and had stains on them. We called down to the front desk and asked for new sheets. The receptionist was very apologetic and said she'd send housekeeping right away. A random person who also looked like a student showed up with a pile of wrinkled sheets as our replacement. We made the bed ourselves, (the mattress pad was a little square that didn't even cover the whole mattress) but just never could get a clean feeling after that incident and didn't sleep well. The rest of the room was very clean though. Our room overlooked the street and a giant dumpster. The whole place seemed very tired and in need of a renovation. The old building has great potential to be a really cool hotel. The location was great - just a couple blocks from the ball field, public square and entertainment area including house of blues which was our goal in selecting this property.

I had never been to Cleveland. My expectations of the town were, quite frankly, on the low side.
I was pleasantly surprised by the entire city.
It started with our stay at Residence Inn downtown.
We were in town to visit a relative at the Cleveland Clinic. (What a wonderful facility, by the way).
Needed a place to stay and had no reservation. I ended up at the Residence Inn. The staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful! Every single person we dealt with were so genuinely nice.
The facility is one of the greatest surprises we have experienced. The room was outstanding. On of my favorite configurations of space that I've experienced. Large living area with "sqareness" to it. Loved the roominess and the ammenities.
The entire hotel reaks of history. The kind of quaintness and class that cannot be built today.
Windows and trim, high ceilings, decor, out of this world.
Breakfast room was amazing. The entire experience was just fantastic.
I would go out of my way to go back to this wonderful friendly hotel located in the middle of a wonderfully friendly city! Go!

Room Tip: Staff was really helpful with parking. They helped us park in the employee lot, and just made every...

We stayed last evening at the Residence Inn in Dwntwn Cleveland and were blown away. The location is great for shops & restaurants. And the staff is fabulous. We were greeted happily and taken great care of by Angela at the desk, chatted with Bill about the history of the beautiful building and greeted warmly by Darius at midnight (always blown away by ppl that are full of life while working at midnight). The most amazing part of our experience was this lovely old building and all of the charms that came with it. It was built years ago & renovated in early 2000 (all staff members we came in contact w/ told us a bit about its history & with genuine pride). The breakfast area w/ its stained glass ceiling, the antique pieces of furniture thoroughout the building, our spacious room (that was meticulously mantained) with huge ceiling to floor windows. The employees and ownership of this property obviously take great pride in their product and should be commended, because it is beautiful. Had never been to Cleveland but this visit has made us a fans. Thank you Residence Inn Cleveland Downtown.
