“mediocre to awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

we had a party of 9 last Sat. The service was indifferent at best, but the food was poor quality, the worst meal I have had in Northeast Ohio excluding the chains. 3 ribeye stake were mostly gristle and tenderized to death, with an awful flavor. Mashed potatoes were full of garlic, cold and old. My perch had no flavor, had been frozen and was greasy. It was very expensive. Avoid this place.

“Great ambiance. Ok Food. Terrible Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

A great view of the lake and an nice outdoor atmosphere. This used be a place where you could expect great service and fantastic food....not anymore. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes for a menu. Once we ordered, the meal itself was a disappointment. The salad was bland and the blue cheese dressing was like water. The ribeye with grilled onions and mushrooms had no mushrooms and the onions were raw. What a shame. We used to look forward to going to the Oaks for a great experience. Not anymore. The menu is average at best and the food is passable. Do yourself a favor, go there to have a few drinks, enjoy the sunset over the lake and skip the food.

“Great Food on Chippewa Lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

It's a small place, but the chefs have always provided us with great food. Call ahead to see what the specials are and enjoy a glass of wine while looking out over Chipipewa Lake. Always good for a "nice" meal.

“Someplace Special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

My wife and I ALWAYS think of The Oaks as our 1st choice for a special dining occasion. The food and ambiance is fantastic. The views of the lake, whether dining in their spectacular gardens or in their dining room-with-a-view. Flavorful menu ~ although it's rare that I don't order their King Crab legs (perfectly done and split for you so no mess). Try em out, wont go wrong.

“Out of the ordinary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2012

My husband and I typically go to The Oaks fro our anniversary. It's decidedly more crowded during warmer months when you can wait for your table on the veranda while enjoying a glass of wine and a beautiful view of the lake. In February, when we typically go, we ask to be seated near the fireplace. Being a former estate home, it has a character not found in most restaurants. The food is very good. It's a bit pricey, but not out of range of other similar venues. (Entrees start in the teens and go to market value on certain seasonal items.) Great food, great service and great ambiance. (The home is older so expect some sloping floors and dated, yet elegant, decor.)
