“So much Fun!! and Relaxing TOO!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2011

We stayed in a hillside cottage for 3 nights at the end of April. The cottage was clean and the kids loved the bunks and being in the middle of the woods. My 6 year old caught 3 fish during our stay, we cooked out, had a campfire and also truly enjoyed the indoor facilities as well!! The pool and gameroom were big hits with our boys!! The staff was GREAT and we had no problems!! Hated to leave and will definitly be back this summer!!

Great family fun and fishing success at Salt Fork! Thanks for visiting us (again) and for sharing your review. Our Explore S'mores package is popular with families looking for a "camping" experience.

This was an experiment to see if we could work out Turkey hunting as a family. Thanks to a great staff our experience was greatly beyond what we had expected. The desk people were helpful and gave us information that will insure our future stays will be as rewarding. Thank you for a great time.

Room Tip: IDesk staff is most helpfull here.

My husband and I visit Salt Fork at least once a year and usually stay in one of their Lakeside Chalet cottages with the hot tubs. This trip we brought my parents and my two young nephews and rented two hillside cottages using the buy one get one free promotion on their website. We had a fabulous weekend! The boys loved running back and forth from one cabin to the other and exploring the woods. We went hiking and geocaching, this park has many different trails and caches to choose from. We went swimming at the indoor lodge pool, and was pleasantly surprised to find the water a nice, warm temperature. Towels were provided, you do not need to bring your own.

Our cabins were showing a bit of wear and tear, but that is to be expected with the limited budget the state parks have to work with. Dishes were mismatched and our set of 6 was missing a cup and a plate; my parents cabin was missing a fork and a bowl. Pots and pans were limited - if you're going to be cooking anything fancy you will probably want to bring your own cookware. Just be aware this is nothing fancy and you'll be fine. Both cabins were clean and were in a great location, both had lake views from the enclosed porches out front. With the buy one get one free special, we considered it a bargain and plan to return soon...the boys are already asking when we can go back!

Salt Fork Sate Park is a large, beautiful state park! We love to stay at the cabins. We normally go during their "Stay for A's" promotions in order to save money. It saves us $50 per night! The lodge is the best one in Ohio! It has 3-floors, great food, indoor & outdoor pools, large game room and more! Normally, you will see many deer on your visit. This last time ( I guess due to the time of year), we did not see many deer, but it is not unusual to see 50-100 deer in 3-5 days! The kids love it here and there is plenty of room for them to have fun!

I have been too many different places around the country for a golf getaway with friends. Including, staying at a campground on the Ocean in Myrtle Beach, Florida, and various places in Michigan. Nothing compares to Salt Fork. An amazing golf course, for $20 that includes 18 holes and a cart and great accommodations.

Room Tip: Call the resort directly and not Xanterra.

We were at Salt Fork lodge for a few days over March Break. Salt Fork is a huge state park, and you drive for some time to get from the park entrance to the lodge (I think it's 7 miles of winding roads)... and then in the middle of the hills and woods, the lodge pops up. The lodge was absolutely beautiful... big wooden beams, leather sofas in front of fireplaces... really comfortable and rustic. There was lots to do... the indoor pool and hot tub were well kept, the tennis courts were nice, as were the shuffleboard courts. They also had ping pong and a games room in the basement, as well as an exercise room. The restaurant had a nice, cozy decor, and the food was good and reasonably priced. The outdoor pool looked nice for the summer. There were lots of deer at dusk and dawn... we could see them when we were playing tennis. The golf course in the park had great prices for golfing, and the course was really nice, and hilly. Golf carts were available. We never had time to try out the hiking trails. And there was a mini-golf course that looked pretty good, but it was closed when we were there. Overall, a nice relaxing stay with Salt Fork. The only two minor disappointments were... no free internet (though internet was available at $10/day), and no complimentary hot beverage bar.

The lodge is located inside the park surrounded by beautiful landscape. The staff are very professional and timely. The restaurant is located inside the lodge and the food was pretty good. During the busy hours you may have to wait a bit to be seated by overall wonderful atmosphere. There are several outside activities to experience including hiking, camping, golfing, etc. (Some activities are seasonal) I really enjoyed the lodge and look forward to going back.
