“Glad someone added the charm back in this restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

This restaurant has been at this location for a long time. So glad the current owners took over the place and made it the charming restaurant it now is. My husband had the salmon and he said it was delicious. They gave him a huge 1/2 of a butternut squash with his meal...I ate part of it and it was still too much...very delicious. I got the Shrimp and Grits. It was very good...not as good as in Charleston, but it was good. We ate outside in the garden area...very nice. It is a little pricey but they do have hamburgers in you just want to go for the atmosphere. Nice for a special occasion.

“Surprisingly excellent lunch in this little town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

The Welshfield Inn was excellent. A reasonably priced meal in a charming outdoor setting. The Welsh Rarebit and angus burger were both excellent set with a imported Peronni. All in all a great surprise - we will be back.

“Charming, Relaxing, Appetizing and Delightful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

A group of 12 of us met for dinner on a Friday night at 6:30. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our waitress was absolutely FANTASTIC and on top of everything! She kept our water glasses and drinks full and was quick to clear away dirty dishes. She also did a wonderful job of keeping our orders and checks accurate.

The Welshfield Inn is a historic landmark that was part of the Underground Railroad. It is a very large home that has been turned into a restaurant. The menu is small and pricey but the food was flavorful and well worth the money.

We started our meal with a glass of wine for me and a beer for my husband. Their wine and beer lists are quite extensive so there is something for every taste. We began with a Bruschetta appetizer that was VERY fresh and light. We sampled the Calamari that our friends ordered and it was cooked perfectly. We were served a basked of warm dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls with butter which were scrumptious! For our entrées I ordered the Filet Mignon with Brussels sprouts and substituted the mashed potatoes for steamed spinach and tomatoes. My husband ordered the Fried Perch meal that came with four pieces of freshly breaded perch, cole slaw and fries. They have a list of side dishes that you can substitute from if you prefer. We also ordered their famous Lobster Macaroni and Cheese. Both meals came out hot with a beautiful presentation. Portion sizes were perfect. My husband said the fish was definitely fresh and the breading was a light breading not a heavy batter. My filet was cooked to perfection and the vegetables were fresh and not soggy or canned. We both finished every bite. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was SCRUMPTIOUS! And the portion was enough to share. My husband tasted it but is not a fan of Lobster so I took his half home and enjoyed it for lunch the next day. It warmed up beautifully!

We spent about 2 hours socializing and eating and never felt rushed. The wait staff took care of every request anyone asked for including brining us another chair for a last minute friend who joined our party. Several people tried and loved their daily drink special which was $4 Long Island Iced Teas. Several people also tried martinis and said they were made perfectly.

Everyone was very professional yet made you feel at home. The staff didn't hover or distract you from your meal yet they kept everything full and clean. It was a great night!

It is VERY easy to get to no matter where you come from. We drove an hour to meet our friends and were pleasantly surprised that it was so enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant for a night out with friends!

“Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Although a bit expensive, we went on a Monday for $5 Burger night. Hamburger was delicious, juicy. French fries were perfect. Onion soup good. Onion rings great. Dining is in a beautiful old house with a comfortable atmosphere. It was busy but the waitress was friendly and our food was timely. You can eat outside if you want but we didn't. Their website gives a good history of the restaurant: http://www.welshfielddining.com/about.html. We have lived in the area for years but did not know about this restaurant. Even though we know it would be a little more money, we will go back to try another type of meal because we think it will be worth it. I highly recommend this restaurant.

“Relaxing Atmosphere and Full of Charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

I have had the pleasure of dining here several times over the years and through several owners. Recently I went for Sunday Brunch which featured "all you can eat Buttermilk Pancakes", Crab Cake Eggs, Waffles and much more. Ideal for weddings and receptions. They also offer a popular $5.00 Build-Your Own Burger on Monday nights. Consistently offers excellent food and service located in the very historic Western Reserve Area.
