“Great budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

Okay, so it's not the Ritz. But for the low price we paid it was fine. Room/bath were clean. Beds were comfortable enough. Water pressure good and hot. Wouldn't want to stay here a week, but for a single night it was perfectly fine. It's a motel, so room door open directly to the outside.

Have stayed here for dog trials in the Cinci area. Rooms are standard Red Roof rooms. Nothing fancy but everything works. We have stayed here maybe 10 times in the last 2 years and the worst thing that we ran into was that the cleaning person one time missed our room on her daily route. Larry brought us clean towels and took away our trash and used towels within 10 minutes of us calling the desk. Other than that one time, rooms have always been clean. One major plus is that there is plenty of room to walk your dog. Last stay was 9/1 and 9/2. Service at the front desk has always been friendly.

Good location and 20 miles to airport. But the room is definitely not a non-smoking type. Opening the door gives off a strong cigar smell. Bathtub was not clean will stains and hairs. Was noisy in the middle of the night when other guests return. Staff at check-in was rude and had a bad attitude. Unlikely to stay there again.

we went to this hotel for a 4 night stay because we where going to 3 day consert at kings island. the first 2 nights where ok besides that we asked for no room service and the people from room service tryed to walk right in without knocking and we had to tell them each time that we did not want room service. after that on our 3ed night the power went out. we where told we would get that night free then once i went got up in the morring the power was still out. they said they had no extra flashlights and the rooms where stufy and hot all night. we where then told the person who said we could have a free night was not a manger and that we would have to pay full price! we had over 20 dollers worth of food that went bad and the person below our room had diabites and his meds went bad! they said there was nothing they could do and that it was " a act of god" well that makes a 60 doller room worth about 5. i will never stay in anouther red roof inn in my life i also plan on calling corportate about this. dont stay here the people have a attitiude promblem and need to be shut down.

Room Tip: plan ahead... the tax for this area is 27 cents on the doller

Thank you for taking a moment to leave a review. I am sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. Unfortunately the entire area was without power for multiple days due to severe storms. I apologize for the experience and hope that you will consider us in the future.

I made our reservation based on the location and the many positive reviews on this site and I was not disappointed! Driving up I was a little put off that the room doors were outside rather than inside but our room was directly beside the lobby and the area seemed very good so I was put at ease. Service at the front desk was quick, efficient and friendly. This is very a popular location and I was glad I made a reservation because the the place was booked up.
The Superior King room was not large but sufficient for our purposes. The vanity is separate from the toilet/shower room, which was somewhat small. The paint job and accessories looked updated. There was a small fridge, microwave and safe in the room. A desk and office chair were useful. (Look for extra towels, if you need them, in the dresser drawers.) The fridge took quite a while to get cool but it eventually worked fine. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, but might knock over a small child. Everything seemed very clean and in working order. Not many channels on TV but we didn't plan to spend much time in the room anyway.
Overall, the hotel was excellent for the value, the AAA discount making it fit our budget nicely. Very centrally located for the Zoo, Aquarium, Cincinnati Premium Outlets and Ikea. Will definitely stay again!

Disclaimer: I try to avoid staying at motels. I'm feeling more than a little snooty writing this, but the outdoor entry, bad decor, textured paint, cardboard-box-feel of chain motels depresses me. HOWEVER, this particular Red Roof Inn makes absolutely the best of what they've been given. They can't change the fact that the rooms are square boxes with under-the-window heaters/air conditioners, but everything is very clean and appears recently to have been updated. It's still a step down from a typical hotel (example: hairdryers are not provided in rooms), but everything else was a step above what I would have expected for this type of hotel at this price ($71, taxes included, for a room with two double beds). Towels were not fluffy pima cotton, but they were not sandpaper; the bathmat was cotton rather than paper; parts of the decor were a little too bright--red/blue curtains, for instance--but generally tasteful and not from the 70s.

I spoke with three different staff members, and they were all very competent and friendly. When we realized there was no hair dryer in the room, I asked at the office if they had one we could borrow and they cheerfully found one for us and handed it over without even asking what room we were in.

Atmosphere, etc.: The motel appeared to be almost full, but we had a quiet, restful night. The location is just off the expressway, but we were not disturbed by road noise. We inadvertently left the door ajar on one of our rooms when we were out from about 8pm to midnight, but it was clear no one had come in. When we left at about 11am some guests were eating at a picnic table under some trees next to the parking lot. The motel had two pop machines, but they take only $1 bills and were out of what we wanted, but the ice machines worked and it was a quick trip to the convenience store at the BP gas station immediately across the street.

Room Tip: Remember that this is a motel, so second floor rooms require using outside stairs—no elevator. The b...

I like what Red Roof is doing in upgrading their motels. Our superior King room had been redone and other than the bathroom tub was stained, we had no complaints. The tub WAS clean, just stained on the bottom. The staff was very friendly and helpful and directed us to the nearest Skyline Chili. If you are passing through this area and looking for a reasonable place to stay close to the interstate, this is a good choice.
