“Very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

This is not the cheapest place I have stayed in, but it is worth the money for great rooms, facilities, location and obvious concern for the guests,

Location is terrific. Beds are very comfortable and a large common room to lounge around in.

Room Tip: They are all good.

Travelled for a two day conference, Nick made the group very welcome nothing was too much trouble. The location was delightful, peaceful and full of charm. Take a walk up the high street. Beds were very comfortable, rooms very clean and well presented. Close to restaurants, vineyards and an easy drive back to the airport. Breakfast was included, food was fresh and plentiful. Hospitality was warm and welcoming. Upstairs sitting room was a great place to conclude the days conference. I stayed downstairs and there were the usual creaks associated with an historical home, so if a light sleeper, upstairs may suit better. Loved it will be back.

Room Tip: Up stairs if you are a light sleeper.

Ahhhh. Absolutely amazing. We stayed in the Malpas Suite (upstairs) for our wedding night, booked by my sister on our behalf. What a truly wonderful gift. I was utterly amazed at how beautiful this place was, it was more than I could have hoped for, for our very special night. The hosts were truly accommodating (we had our young baby with us- and they were so lovely and helpful). It felt luxurious, cosy (it was the middle of July), the breakfast was heavenly. Honestly, you will not be disappointed. Stay a Friday night- go to Russells for pizza, the Willunga Farmers market around the corner on a Saturday morning... Perfect. I love this place so much and we have stayed at many great places around the world- this one is right up there!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the beautiful Malpas Suite- stunning.

A warm welcome by Nick, shown to our very comfortable rooms then given a rundown on the area attractions. Walking distance to Russell's and Fino Restaurant a huge bonus. Breakfast prepared by Nick was a treat. Nothing was too much trouble. I truly hope that Nick and Val get the same pleasure from running Willunga House as we did from staying there. I will be returning with my partner as soon as possible. Gets our vote for No. 1 B&B in the area.

Stayed for three nights here and were delighted. Nick and Val, the owners, are wonderful hosts, and the rooms are classically beautiful and well-maintained. The upstairs sitting room, clean, airy, and richly furnished, is loaded with books and CDs — a great place to unwind. Free wi-fi, elegant decor, delicious meals ... this place is a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern convenience, and we will certainly stay here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights, and were the only guests in the house. We had room 1 at the front of the house, which had its own tiny and tight ensuite. Although at the front of the house, we got a good night's sleep as the town is so quiet. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable.

The current owner does not live on the premises, so you need to call ahead to check-in so she can meet you there.

The breakfast was delicious and the current owner and staff all very friendly. One of the most expensive places I stayed in on this trip, but a more personalised service compared to a big hotel. Free wi-fi and computer usage. We parked on the street, but during busier times, you may be able to park in the yard.

Willunga House is a restored 'Heritage' property in Willunga, which is just South of McLaren Vale in South Australia. It is a B&B with just five rooms, which are all beautifully furnished. There is also a sitting room with large library of both books and music for guests. Kingsly is in charge of the coffee machine and has a definately a 'Wacky' sense of humour. Rosie produces the most fantastic breakfasts, including fruit from the garden and eggs from their own hens. Breakfast can go on for hours partly due to the food but mainly due to the conversation either just with Kingsly and Rosie or with other guests. This is an ideal venue from which explore the Fleurie Penninsular, with fabulous views and great vinyards. Also a good jumping off point for a visit to Kangaroo Island. Plenty of good resturants in the area, whilst others are simply GREAT resturants! This area is a favourite of ours having visited three times from the UK, and one we will return to and will be staying at Willunga House
