“Villa Java”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

beautifully restored villa - private, well kitted out & luxurious.
small but perfectly functional kitchen. King size bed in large & really comfortable bedroom.
2 tv's = 1 in bedroom, 1 in spa room. fabulous large & deep spa bath.
great fireplace in both bedroom & spa room too.
very generous breakfast provisions.
nice & private balcony overlooking trees / creek at rear of property.
BBQ needed cleaning, but it was raining so we didnt use it anyway.
overall, realy enjoyed it, would definitely go again :)

The villas are a bit out of town - good for the antique shopping area but not so good for the town centre. We fought our way down the back garden to get to the creek walk, which once we were on was very nice. The villa itself was very nice, with a good (but small) kitchen and a gay bathroom. Very relaxing furniture and very quiet.

Stayed here while touring the Fleurieau Peninsula: great base to have for daily jaunts to McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Victor Harbour, Goolwa, the Coorong and Murray Mouth, Lake Alexandrina etc. Thoughtfully furnished, spotless, all mod cons for cooking including BBQ, full breakfast available on request (yummy!). Great hot tub, private rear deck - altogether tranquil and relaxing. An easy drive of under an hour from Adelaide & about 30 mins from Hahndorf. Srathalbyn is really pretty - lovely old stone buildings abound, good cafes/ dining. No fitness centre available, nor necessary. Just walk/jog in the beautiful surroundings!

Room Tip: Villa Chocolate is the only one with a hot tub!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

This property is marketed via its web site and signage as one of three attached luxury villas. But it did not live up to its 'luxury-promise' or offer value for money. On the plus side it is in a convenient location to the village and park, it overlooks the small river area enhanced by trees and birdlife. The interior is pleasantly 'Bali' themed.
Sadly, and we were expecting this to be a special experience on our trip from Melbourne to Adelaide, the place was not clean - unwashed windows, grease on the kitchen extractor housing, dirty floors, broken window, blinds broken or not working, filthy bbq, unkempt courtyard and garden, to mention but a few things. At $240/night and the luxury proposition one naturally expects something outside the ordinary. This place has so much potential but it is seriously let down by a lack of maintenance and housekeeping rigor/cleanliness.

Room Tip: All three villas would be quiet. Good parking and easy access to the villa.

Stayed here for 4 nights as part of a 2 month visit to Australia for my wife and me. It was an excellent "home base" while visiting Langhorne Creek, the McLaren Vale, Victor Harbour and the rest of the Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide in South Australia. This villa (Chocolate) offered superb, clean, and thoughtful touches throughout, highlighted by a large&private spa, great gas BBQ, outside deck to the back and a superior kitchen with all the bells&whistles. Welcome provisions by kind hosts Sam&Sammy were generous and appreciated. We both felt it was best value for $$ paid during our 62 nights Downunder.
