“Great location, friendly helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014

Had the pleasure of staying here last night. Staff were very friendly/helpful. Organised a very early check in for us as we had all our luggage with us (got there around 10:30 am) and when we got to the building and realised we had to go up a flight of stairs with a pram another staff member rang up to change our room to a downstairs one before we even had to ask. They hadn't finished doing it up but let us leave our bags in the room. Wanted to leave a note on the comment card about how happy we were with the staff but couldn't find a pen unfortunately! Rooms are clean and well equipped and the location... well it sells itself. Absolutely amazing :)

The apartments are always well maintained and clean. No complaints regarding the accommodation. The apartments are across the carpark from the hotel, far enough so that the noise is not a problem.
The service in the "restaurant" is always friendly but as with other reviews, some extra training would be a plus and would make this hotel a clear standout. Little things like meal placement really make a difference. The menu is a decent size and has some variety. The food has always been tasty.
This is a company booking and whenever I arrive my details are always at reception and my room is ready. I always choose to stay here.

We stayed at the Marina Hotel on both ends of our Great White excursion with Rodney Fox. It's located right on the Marina, and within a 2 minute walk to the boat we were on for 4 nights.

The location is perfect, and beautiful for access to the boat. The hotel is about 5 minutes away from the main part of Port Lincoln, so expect a $15-18.00 AU cab ride each way. Fortunately we had 5 of us, so it wasn't horrible, but I thought the rate was a bit steep for such a short ride.

Staff was friendly, helpful, and are combined with the bar/bistro/gaming & restaurant areas. They all pitch in where needed. I will review the restaurants/bar in the food category. Check in/out was easy, as were making reservations.

The units are detached from the main complex, so I really wouldn't describe it as a hotel by US standards. A quick walk across the parking lot and you were at your front door of the unit.

We stayed in two of the 2 and 3 floor apartments during our stay, with even the 2 floor unit having more bed space than we needed. Think a town home set up for those from the US. Each unit opened to the main floor with a 2 bedrooms, full bath, shower, sink/toilet area. There was a small washer and dryer on this floor also with the dryer being virtually useless. I know most people air dry items, but when your traveling, you don't necessarily have the time for that. The 2nd floor had a 1/2 bath, kitchen area, small dining table, couches, tv and balcony. This is the only floor that had a heater unit, which was also a detractor. They did have warming mattress pads, but it was very cold in the bathroom areas, and since the downstairs was the only shower/tub area, it was simply cold in June (beginning of winter).

The unit is a bit aged, and could use new carpet, and a bit of sprucing. They were suffice for our short stays, and gave us more room than booking individual suites for our group.

There isn't much in the marina area for alternative eating options, but the gas station up the street had a large cafe inside it, and was very good. I would probably stay in towards town more next visit, and have access to more while staying a night.

Room Tip: Larger units are right on the harbor and have a great view.

Stayed here becasue it was right next door to the departure point for the Shark Cage diving taht we where doing. We stayed in a 3 bedroon apartment which had a sepearte kitchen and lounge room. Hotel is a fairway from town centre ($14 taxi fare one way) but has a great bistro with large selection of meals.
Indoor and outdoor (closed in with blinds at this time of year) seating options available if you wanted.
Satff friendly.

Room Tip: If doing shark cage didiving is right on departure point. Otherwiose a long way from town unless you...

have just spent 4 nights there on the waterfront apartments....... had a 3 bedroom that sleeps 6 with all nick nacks for cooking etc available........ VERY quiet area with magnificent views (room 6)......would be fine with 4 adults, however, find it difficult to imagine 6 adults fitting in with 2x2 seater lounge and a table suitable for 4 adults.......in my opinion the rooms could do with a little bit of "make up" to make them outstanding.......you will require your own transport or a fist full of cab charges as the hotel is approx 5km from the centre of town........food is very nice at the hotel which is a 20 second walk from the room, the meals are a wee bit expensive, however as stated good tucka......would definately rcommend after all that

Room Tip: only one bathroom (+ toilet upstairs)........water front apartments a MUST for the view from both gr...

Stayed here as a group of 11 for the shark dive charters. This is definitely the place to stay if you are doing charters as the wharf is at the hotel. Clean apartments, good food, friendly staff. The apartment prices are reasonably priced. Couldn't really fault this hotel.

Room Tip: Apartments 1 and 2 have water views.

Mine was a three night stay in a one bedroom suite. Room adequate, clean and spacious with basic comfortable furniture.
The problem is that the service in the area of reception and in the restaurant is delivered by pleasant but really poorly trained staff, especially in the restaurant. There can be no excuse for serving all meal courses simultaneously, as an example my coffee was delivered to my table at precisely the moment I took my seat. The rest of the meal, hot and cold items , was
delivered simultaneously .
This is not really a restaurant it is a bistro . On my first visit this was not
Clearly obvious , I sat at a table
For around ten minutes
Before venturing into the
Bar to enquire about service.

There appears to be no reception service at some significant time of the day, one is required to visit the bar and compete with drinkers for attention.
All this is no doubt in the interests of economy/ profit but this leaves the guest lost at times .
A more carefully thought out guest service plan and significantly improved staff training would lift the guest experience to where it should be in such a pleasant spot.
