“Great Location, Food Improving”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

This cafe/ restaurant has one of the best views of any restaurant I have ever dined in on the beautiful and tranquil Horseshoe Bay in quiet and quaint Port Elliot. They have thankfully extended the cafe opening to 8pm and are now serving coffee and breakfast from 8:30 am. The restaurant itself still needs work. The quality of the food was fine and the portions generous, but the menu choices were fairly limited, the decor in the room is pretty drab and the atmosphere almost non existent. The young waiting staff were fine without ever elevating the experience to fine dining. This is a location that could support a special restaurant, but the FF is not there yet.

“Great location but dissapointing food offer”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

A fantastic location with majestic views over Horseshoe Bay. The menu was very dissapointing and expensive at $36 for 2 pieces of King George Whiting with chips and salad. I dont know why a South Australian restaurant next to the ocean doesn't have Oysters, Lobster or Prawns on their menu?

“Sunday lunch at the Flying Fish cafe/restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Over the years we have visited the Flying Fish more than a few times for lunch in the restaurant. When we arrived after a few years interlude it did strike me that the physical appearance of the restaurant was looking a little dated, it made me worry what the food might be like (perhaps resting on the laurels of past glories). I am really happy to report that this wasn't the case. The menu is relatively short and succinct but everyone at our table of 10 thoroughly enjoyed their meals and a beverage or two. The view onto the beautiful Port Elliost beach is as gorgeous as ever. Still a winner :)

“Overpriced fish and chips”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Nice location but very noisy is the restaurant. Extremely expensive for what you got. Mains between $26 and $35 . Service very average . If you want fish and chips go to a fish and chip shop and sit on the lawn in front of the restaurant for a fraction of the cost and pretty much the same food
