“Great fish and chips in a great setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

We called into the Flying Fish around 2.30pm for a late lunch. The restaurant has a five-star position right next to the beach at Port Elliott. It's divided into two sections; there's the fish and chip shop which has an area where you can sit to eat your fish and chips which is fairly rustic in style, with an open verandah, though this can be covered in polythene sheeting if the weather's not so good. Then there's the restaurant itself which is definitely more upmarket with proper windows. However both sections have the same fabulous view of the sea.

We favoured the fish and chip shop and we all had the seafood special, which was a snip at $15.95 for a really good helping of a piece of fish, prawns, calamari all in lovely crisp batter and some really good chips. We waited less than ten minutes to be served and everything was piping hot when it came. Will definitely go back!

“Million dollar view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

What a beautiful setting! Enjoyed great food overlooking Horseshoe Bay on a warm and busy day.
Chose the restaurant and was not disappointed - yummy food, attentive and friendly service and the view to die for. All in all an excellent experience.

“Great Seafood in a Scenic Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We enjoyed nice fresh & tasty seafood as take-away from the cafe and ate at tables at the front of the cafe overlooking the gorgeous Horseshoe Bay on a perfect day.
The weather was idyllic and the food was yummy! The Coopers Ale beer-batter was crispy & tasty, the calamari was tender & tasty and the chips excellent.
The prices were quite fair and the atmosphere wonderful.
The place was busy & deservedly so.
Well done Flying Fish!!

“Wonderful Fish and Chips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012 via mobile

FFC was recommended to us by a highly respected winery. Whilst touring we dropped in for lunch and chose the cafe rather than the restaurant. We both loved their fish and chips. A simple meal but one of our favorites. We both had their signature beer battered fish which was huge with beautiful crunchy chips. The style of the cafe is "use your fingers" and the meals are served in large cardboard cones which stand in milkshake cans. We loved it and took as much home as we ate. My wife went through the restaurant an said the meals looked lovely. We would certainly recommend FFC.

“What has happened to this place !!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

This place used to be an South Australian icon. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and all we could get was drinks - so many people asked for something to eat and they could not even fry some chips, the service was also very ordinary.
