I stayed on a Living Social deal so not sure how that compares to the regular deals but my deal was $800 for 2 nights. So $400 per night and only a contintenal breakfast and lovely (but not overly fancy or as healthy as I expected - ie., cheesecake for dessert, I know, was yum, but not in my usual healthy eating plan) dinner was included. Lunch was extra (I think it was $9 for a bowl of soup, but it was really good soup). So really it was a very expensive B&B. But if I put aside the cost vs value, I had a very lovely stay. I could see the sunrise from my bed which was beautiful and enjoyed curling up in the lovely wing chair by the fire with a book and chatting with other guests. My Friend (also staying on a deal) and I didn't get a tour of the manor but after a few hours of confusion we felt settled enough to look about and make ourselves comfortable, it is definitely the kind of place you can feel at home pretty quickly. We also didn't know there was a gym until too late which was a shame and it was too cold to use the outdoor spa (very small spa) and swimming pool. There was a beautiful spa in the shared bathroom but I didn't use it, my friend said it was amazing though. We would really have loved a proper spa / steam / plunge pool type facility to use as we pleased between treatments like we've done at other spa facilities, it might have made it feel like we had more value for our $400 per night, but even a steam bath was an extra cost that required booking.
The treatments were as good as we've had anywhere and the therapists professional. In fact all the staff at Authenticity are the most hardworking you'll find anywhere. If you sit outside on a lounge, magically from no where someone will come along with a smile and a chair cushion. If you find yourself standing around the fire chatting, someone will magically come and stoke it for you and fetch you a glass of wine. But you might have to go knock on the kitchen door if you'd like a snack :)
All in all our stay was lovely. Yes, it is an old manor, expect an old manor thats probably always requiring a bit of TLC, but it didn't bother me, I enjoyed the feel. My room felt very French Provinical. But it is definitely the nightly cost vs value that will stop me from returning.
