“Best caravan park in Adelaide Hills”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

We stayed at the Resort caravan park (in a drive through site) for a month last December/January and were really impressed with the general landscaping of the park. Plenty of space between sites and the amenities blocks were fantastic. The camp kitchen was not finished, but the photos now online of the finished kitchen look excellent. The park owner was really friendly, nothing was too much trouble for him or the office staff. The local attractions are great, the pizzas and food at the Fruit Barn across the road are excellent (we could even buy Coorong mullet there!) Also, the small apple shop down the road sells the best apple pies ever. The township of Hahndorf is the best place to eat and shop and not too far from the park.
We will definitely stay again when we visit family in Adelaide and would recommend this park to others, as it is the best park we have ever stayed at while in S.A. Also, the restaurant at the resort was the perfect place for a great New Year's dinner (didn't have to drive home after some good red wine).

Room Tip: This resort is not just a caravan park, the attractions such as the Hans Heysen art gallery and loca...

We stayed here for two nights while visiting family close by. It's a good location, on the road into Hahndorf with all its shopping and cafes. We stayed in a cabin which unfortunately was one of the unrenovated ones, so it wasn't what you would call upmarket.

However it was perfectly fine for our needs, comfortable beds, good shower, heating worked well (although quite noisy), adequate kitchen facilities. Note, they do not provide a cooktop or oven, just a microwave, toaster and kettle. I think there is a communal kitchen available. Bar fridge, ran forge of crockery and cutlery etc.

Wedidn't look around much as we were really only there to sleep, but the grounds and the lake are lovely. The children enjoyed the roaming ducks and geese! The only disappointment was that the bistro wasn't open for breakfast on Monday or Tuesday, which seems short sighted in a busy school holiday period. Overall though, a good stay, and I would be interested to see what the renovated cabins are like.

Room Tip: Maybe try for a renovated cabin.

What a lovely place to arrive at after a long day of driving. The spacious layout of this park and creative landscaping stands out and makes this feel like a special place. We were accommodated in an "Bavarian Chalet" and I couldn't have been happier. The exterior was quaint with Bavarian charm and it overlooked the picturesque lake complete with ducks and all manner of water birds. We also had prime position to watch the "Red" moon rise over the horizon.

Whilst there are more modernised rooms and accommodation these cabins were comfy, spacious and cosy. There were spare blankets, electric blankets and a heater to assist with the crisp cool of the Autumn nights. There was even a small verandah to sit out on and take in the views. The cabins are spaced widely apart so you have privacy from neighbours and there was a jumping pillow and swimming pool close by. (crisp Autumn nights but warm and sunny Autumn days).

Taking a stroll around the park it is noticeable that lots of landscaping is going on to improve the look and comfort of the place. There was a laundry but BYO pegs. Plenty of space for children to play and lots of space for taking a walk or finding a quiet place to sit.

I highly recommend this place and the Bavarian Chalets in particular.

Very well laid out park with very good amenities. On checkin we were asked for a credit card bond of $100, but when we checked out we were told it would take a week before it would be credited back into our account. I find this unacceptable especially as we were not told about this at checkin.

Dear Dennis,
We are glad you enjoyed the park and its facilities.
Each guest is asked to provide a credit card pre-authorisation on check in, this is to cover incidentals and is common practice in the hospitality industry.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused on this occasion.

Stayed here for an overnighter and really enjoyed it. It is quite pricey but has some great facilities and is a lovely camp ground as well as being a Big4 style resort. They have an onsite bistro, however we opted to have a short stroll into the village to experience some German fare. The staff were very friendly and it is a well looked after property with improvements being made. It has very clean facilities and a great camp kitchen.

We didn't have great expectations of this caravan park as we had been told by friends it was "run Down". But we had a wonderful surprise.
The new owners have spent a great deal of money on the property and we loved it. We were camping in our camper trailer and were put on a large drive through site, not far from the best camp kitchen I have ever seen! There is nothing in that kitchen they haven't thought of. Six families could cook in there at the same time with no problems. They even have pots and pans, chopping boards, multiple toasters, kettles and microwaves, 3 indoor bbq plates, an oven.... and on and on it goes.
The staff were very nice and professional. There is a new swimming pool and a bouncy mat (?) for the kids. The toilets and showers are spotless and modern. My only very small criticism is there weren't very many rubbish bins about the place, so you had to go for a walk to find one. There is also a lake to feed the ducks, and beautiful outlook over the hills in all there autumn glory. We will definitely be back. Nearly forgot there is an onsite bistro which we didn't try and we made the short walk into Hahndorf for dinner, but I was told it was very good.

Room Tip: The newer area is closer to the ablutions block.

Stayed for two nights in one of the new lakeview cabins. "WOW" was the first word out of my partners mouth when we entered, it was incredibly spacious and clean with modern facilities. Just a short 15 minute stroll into Hahndorf, it is situated just the perfect distance away from the hustle and traffic of the cafes. Free Wi-Fi is also a positive. The on-sight restaurant had some of the amazing meals I have tasted. Have already been recommending the accommodation to family and friends, and planning next trip.

Thank you for your review Siobhan.
Our Lake View Units are one of our most popular room types, with decking overlooking the lake as the ducks swim past...how relaxing!
We are glad you enjoyed a nice meal at Three Gums Bistro, we are lucky to be nestled on 13 hectares of beautiful open surroundings away from the hustle and bustle.
We hope to see you again soon.
