“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

I tried to book room in some of the hotel/motels in the centre of Hahndorf but they were all booked out but they were very expensive anyway as the Christmas markets were on. I was lucky to get a room at the Hahndorf Resort which I was happy with. It was only for 1 night but I found it to be clean and there were no problems with it at all and it was very quiet there. We were in a room with a spa but didn't have the time to use the spa. There is only one minor comment that I could make and that was some mould in the shower/spa tiling and especially the soap dish holder - I know this can happen but it's also easy enough to fix, this is the only negative comment I have for the short stay.

Room Tip: We had a room at the top of the hill so it was away from the main road so it wasn't noisy.

There is a pretty steep climb to get to the top where the beautiful grassed sites are terraced with little gardens between them, they will look really lovely when the trees grow. Unfortunately our site was very uneven, we had to use our very largest chocks, which we've never had to use before in our nearly 4 months of travel and even then we couldn't get it level. There are small lakes with ducks and geese that wander around and love to be fed and the nice new amenities are lovely and clean. There is a lovely view of trees at the bottom and they have cabins as well. They have a restaurant if you don't feel like cooking, but we didn't get a chance to try it. A past comment said they don't have a dump point and looks like that has been changed as there's one now. Staff were friendly when we arrived and helpful when we needed some info. The laundry is a longish walk, down the slope at the bottom of the park if you're carrying a heavy load, getting back up again even worse. They've spent a lot of money doing this park up and they are still working on it, it's a shame the sites weren't a bit more level, but maybe it was just ours. It's a short drive to the town centre which has beautiful old buildings, but is super busy on both times we went in and it's really very hard trying to get a park there and that was a Wednesday and Thursday so I'd hate to see it on the weekend.

Thank you for your feedback.
As we are located on a hill our sites do vary due to the slope of the land, therefore it will vary for each van. The sites were established this year so are still settling and they will be top dressed in the new year.
You will be also pleased to know that a brand new laundry will be completed in 2015.
We hope to welcome you back in the future.

Lovely location, with nice landscaping. But it is a steep hill that both the drive through and all powered sites are terraced on. None are level, bring plenty of chocks! We didn't have sufficient (which shouldn't be necessary) therefore an unlevel van for our stay which made it unpleasant. As we were on a lower site it is a steep climb up and down to the ablutions! Poorest quality loo paper for a resort! Walking distance to town and bus stop right outside the gate which was great for a visit into Adelaide. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a Bavarian Chalet for one night. Two adults and one child. The two bedroom chalet was very comfortable. We had stayed here about 9 years ago and it was quite dated, but they have done it up a lot since then. I was a bit hesitant about staying here again after our experience years ago. But so pleased that we decided to stay here again. It is good value for money and beautiful surroundings. The pool was quite cold, but refreshing as the temperature was extremely hot. Would definatley recommend this resort.

Room Tip: We had a room that overlooked the lake and it was lovely

Visited here on our travels whilst taking family from the UK around SA. What a gem nestled in the hills of Hahndorf. Just a short drive from the lovely Main Street with all the quaint shops cafes and restaurant we stayed in the executive terrace cabins that were absolutely brand new and overlooking the little lake. Ducks with baby ducklings visited in the mornings the lake had Cootes with their young swimming in the lake along with geese etc. we all just loved it and would return in a heartbeat

We are glad you enjoyed your recent stay with us, we think our resident ducks and birds are really special too, part of the charm of being located just outside of town!
See you again soon.
