While attending the Wooden Boat Festival in Goolwa, and being an extremely hot day, our drinks were being thankfully consumed at Hectors when our children and their uncle returned from the treasure hunt. The manager, presumably Hector, approached the table and announced the children would have to leave because the drinks they were holding (they had each returned with a Slushy) were not purchased at Hectors. We tried to explain that we had purchased drinks which were almost finished and we would leave. Hector was rude, unreasonable, overbearing and ill-mannered and loudly informed us that we could stay but the children had to leave immediately as they were taking up seats reserved for paying customers. It was noted that there were no customers waiting to be seated. Hector couldn’t be bothered, or simply too full of his own importance, to listen to anything we had to say and glared at the children while walking away waving a rude dismissal. Because we were not about to send the children to wait outside in the blazing heat of the day, we left our paid-for drinks unfinished and left. On the way out we went to speak to Hector at the bar but were instantly dismissed by his ‘don’t want to listen’.
I would not recommend this establishment to anyone who appreciates being treated with the respect a paying customer deserves… if you do, you won’t get it here.
