“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

Lake Barrine is a beautiful crater lake, with a very informative and entertaining boat tour available and a lovely 1920s tea house for scones or lunch. The guide advised us that the best time to see the amethyst pythons and other animals being more active is to take the first cruise of the day,so get there early!

“Returned again, and again, and again.......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

We have visited Lake Barrine each time we have visited Atherton Tablelands over the years and the tea house never fails us. The scones and coffee are excellent, the view from the deck beautiful and the staff among the friendliest we have encountered.

“Crater Lake, Teahouse and Cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Formed some 10000 years ago by volcanic activity, now a serene setting to enjoy lunch, or a great Devonshire tea. Also, there is an informative boat cruise or take the 5 km walk around the perimeter of the lake.

Make the effort to do the 5km walk... it's so beautiful and filled with wildlife. Also the cafe is a must, fantastic food and milkshakes!

“One Word - Tranquil”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

It's a great little place to unwind after a long drive with a small but beautiful garden. Always a good drive into the Tablelands just for a visit every so often mainly in the summer when it's unbearably hot in Cairns. The Teahouse tasty creamy scones are pretty good and attracts quite a few and also the view from the verandah into the clear pristine 10,000 years old crater lake is a view to remember. Such an enjoyable and relaxing place.

You can take a guided cruise around the crater lake if you wish, go for a cool swim or just relax on the beautiful green lawn up the top and admire the wonderful clear calm water with the tropical flowers and trees all around. And If you are feeling energetic go for short walk to the 1,000 years old giant twin Kauri pines which attracts quite a lot of visitors to Lake Barrine in the first place. You can also spot birds and butterflies and a few lizards if you are lucky. Totally unspoilt you can almost smell the clean fresh air. Love it.
