“Fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Stayed here recently for 2 nights. Initially reading trip advisor I was having doubts, however I didn't have any real issues that would make me think twice about staying here again.

As I was arriving late, all the arrangements were made prior to arriving, a quick check during the day or arrival, found that my key would be available to me in a pre-arranged location. Key and receipt were left in an envelope.

Room was spacious and well laid out, very clean and bed was comfortable.

The only downside would have been TV size, however it wasn't an issue for myself. If you are a light sleeper, it may not be the best place to stay either, as there is a cane tramway virtually outside your door and being close to a level crossing over the Bruce Highway, it does tend to get noisy.

That aside, there certainly were no issues during my 2 nights here that would make me think twice about staying here.

Thanks Dodgyvalve for your comments. I'm glad we were able to assist with your late arrival plans. Unfortunately the cane trains are part of life in this Sugar Capital of Australia from July to November. I trust you werent inconvenienced too much. I hope you get to stay with us again.

We came across this accommodation when we were in search of a place to stay over the Easter weekend. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, nice and quiet, and the pool was a wonderful bonus! We could not get the wifi to work in our room, but if we took our laptop closer to the office, it worked fine. We didn't eat at the motel at all, so I can't provide a review on the food. We also didn't use the "fitness center", if there was one. I thought the motel owners were very friendly and helpful, nice and low key. Overall, I think it's a great last-minute place to stay when traveling through the area.

Room Tip: If having internet access is important to you, ask for a room closer to the office.

Thanks Vanessa for your review. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay over the Easter weekend and took the opportunity to relax by the pool. Sorry to hear that you had some trouble with the internet. We have recently upgraded/extended our wi-fi range and hope that this will improve service for our guests. Look forward to seeing you again.

I have stayed in hundreds of motels with my job as a rep and i have never had the need to write a review. They advertise meals but dont, when asked why the very scruffy owner said if it is a problem go elsewhere,i bit my tounge and didnt retaliate.
They advertise free internet,it dosent work, when asked for help i was told you really are a whinger,no i am not i just whant what i pay for.I ts easy for a motel in this area when there is a mining boom on but these two untidy, rude owners will stuggle when that slows down.Do not stay here if you can help it.

Darren M, Thanks for your review. It is unfortunate that you found everything so displeasing. The majority of our guests appreciate the friendly service, good, clean rooms, split system a/c, flat screen tv's and complimentary wi-fi. I'm sorry if you found it otherwise. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss it further. Regards David Freney (owner)

Big thanks to the owners of the Tramway Motel at Sarina near Mackay in Qld
What a great spot, very clean rooms, great pool and food to go back for.
On a recent assignment for WIN Television i had the pleasure of staying there for 4 nights.
A very homeing and quite place with great hosts, rated at 3 star makes it very cost effective but the services is 5 star.
Any one working in the area needs to give them a call for a good cost effective rate 07-4956 2244 as u will not get better or if u need an over night on your way north or south as there location is good for distance traveling and being just off the Highway makes it even better,
dont forget ther togs, top pool and BBQ and the beer is also cold, I will be back, Mark.

Room Tip: Easy parking down the back if u have a long car ot 4x4 Room for trailers or c/vans, my guess up to...

If you are wanting peace and quiet, I cannot recommend this property. It is 15 meters from a sugar cane railway which runs until late night and resumes early morning.
The staff however are really nice and the rooms are quite clean.

Thanks Scott for your review. The sugar industry is an integral part of life in Central Qld and unfortunately the cane trains do run from July to early December. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay and hope to see you next time your in town for work.

Stayed here for two nights as this is half way on our 2 day drive South, one night on our way south, one night on our way north. Motel is on the Bruce Highway so easy to find, but this also means traffic noise. Motel advertises evening meals, but not offered when we stayed. Ate at local hotel, which was OK. Motel costs $110 per night, expensive when compared to Mackay rates, rooms are very basic, but quite adequate. At the end of the day, this is the best place to stay in Sarina :-( Might be worth driving 30 minutes longer to stay in Mackay!!

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the highway.
