“Nice Motel on edge of town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

Stayed here on business. Rooms are comfortable with plenty of room. Beds are good. Plenty of parking and no noise from the Hwy out the front. Has been extended with a lot more rooms and a separate conference centre. Nice place to stay and would stay here again.

Never staying at this establishment again. When discussing an issue of concern relating to two staff members on the same day (one entering room without consent prior to check-out) was told in a disgusting and rude manner that this is what I had signed to allow for! Upon reading the signed check in form it stated that any staff member can enter even when a do not disturb sign is placed on the door! However what guests signs states that staff can enter if they suspect something illegal is occurring in the room. I would like to know does the hotel attract suspicious guests and activity on a regular basis that they need to have a statement on their check out form such as this! What a joke and or concern for any guest requiring privacy. Meg (Manager) was the most rudest manager that I have ever communicated with! Other staff members however were polite and apologised for interrupting, the manager again when discussed this matter swore and stated if you don't leave the reception she would ring the cops! (Picks up phone and then slams phone down!) Again what a joke! I can't wait for a response to this review as it may assist with further legal action that is currently occurring as a result of her abuse and failure to detail what suspicious activity that caused a staff member to enter my room! As mentioned it makes you wonder why they would need a statement as such; on a check out form, maybe it is not as family friendly as promoted and it possibly attracts suspicious guest regularly participating in illegal activities! Over priced catering! Again what a joke $10k for two days (only morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea)! What happens when the gas and resource industry dry's up maybe they will treat travellers and ex-locals with more respect when they will need the money then!

I am not surprised to find that you have gone to the lengths you have to write your personal opinion of our establishment and of myself. To say I was rude after the critical and abusive behaviour you exhibited on the phone to myself and to other staff members that came in contact with you is a little rich. Let's not loose sight of the main reason for your complaint - our minibar person had knocked on the door and identified himself, when there was no answer he knocked again, still no answer. He then entered your room which had no sign on the door to "DO NOT DISTURB" nor was there any safety chain across. He then proceeded to the fridge to check your minibar and it was at this stage you came out of the bathroom, in a towel, and started hurling abuse that you were going to call the cops and that your daughter was in the other room and what right did we have to enter your room. Under these circumstances we do have the right to enter your room to check the minibar and this can be supported by the HMAA. You then went on to say that your daughter had been spooked by a man jumping out of the bushes when in fact it happened to be one of our chefs leaving work through the doorway at the back of our kitchen. I am not sure why you made this story up!!
When departing you came into reception and acted like you were a lawyer. You wanted copies of this and that, were writing down verbatim what I was saying and it was at this stage I asked you to leave reception or I would call the Police. What normal person would behave like this or more to the point, what establishment would tolerate this behaviour. Your verbal abuse was also very threatening and I took steps to remove you from the reception area as it was upsetting for our staff and any other guests that happened to walk in.
The conference you attended happened to have 200 people at it eating morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea - I suggest you do you homework and find out what it would cost you in Brisbane to hold the same conference and then see what change you have from $10K. By the way this price included the hire of our convention centre and equipment.
Unfortunately we have had to blacklist you from our establishment - the staff you came in contact with were so shaken by your actions and it takes a lot for me to want to call the Police. They have better things to do. Understandably your pride was hurt by me having to ask you to leave, but it was the best solution for all concerned at the time.

Our positive comments far exceed the negative, and we do expect negative comments as we can not please everyone. There is absolutely nothing constructive in your review other than someone wanting to air their opinion, by using abusive behaviour, without success. There was nothing wrong with our service - it was just you didn't like being asked to leave. I even gave you my business card in case you had any further questions you would like answered - hardly a response from someone who was being so disgusting and rude!!

Fortunately we do not rely solely on the gas resource industry to fill our establishment - being an ex-local you should be aware of all the camps that are in place at the moment and this is where the resource staff stay. Again, do your homework and don't jump to conclusions that are unfounded.

I do hope that you are better behaved at your next establishment.

We had a very nice stay in a clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated room. The hotel grounds were immaculate and the pool was inviting and clean. We were one the last leg of our journey and had stayed in some over priced, filthy dives in other mining towns. So this was a most welcome change. Explorer's have lifted the standard of what to expect for a $150 room.
The staff at Explorer's were professional, polite and efficient. We were both too exhausted to go to the restaurant, so we ordered room service. Again the staff were efficient and curtious. The meal size was exceptional (I highly recommend the lamb shanks).
Thanks Explorer's, we had a great stay and a brilliant rest.

Stayed at the Explorer's Inn at Roma while passing through. It was beautifully landscaped and the rooms were nice and clean. The kids had a swim in the pool which was beautiful too. We ate at the restaurant there and the food was great and staff friendly and it was family friendly with the kids too. We were also able to walk to the Big Rig at the Information Centre and also walked from there to the largest bottle tree in Roma and a nice walk on the Adungadoo Pathway beside the Bungle Creek. Very nice. Definitely recommend staying there.

I never expected anything fantastic for the price, as I was only sleeping there and travelling through for work.

Boy I was surprised! Immaculate gardens, friendly staff, perfectly maintained rooms, lovely clean and new linen, everything worked!!!

Definitely stay here! Room service is awesome - although a bit pricy but everything is in Roma because its in the middle of nowhere :P
