We used to spend up to $200 weekly at CBT eating there a couple or three times a week. Food is OK but really nothing special. The sushi chefs are great - international bunch - Korean, S American, Aussie. For a kaiten set-up like this my Australian (gaijin!) benchmark would have to be Sushi Train at Chermside shopping centre - a really good effort at contextualised-meets-authentic sushi in a very attractive contemporary setting. Aside from paying over the odds for OK food - and please understand I mean it's fine, but having eaten sushi all around the World, Japan, US, Canada, Europe, Aussie, Asia... they could either improve/expand the menu or lower the prices considering the volume of business they do, being opposite a major cinema. One reason we don't go as regularly is because given how much we were spending we weren't offered a loyalty card or discount - and when we did ask the Chinese lady owner dismissed the suggestion really unhelpfully - no, more than that - unpleasantly - she didn't give a flying stuff, which isn't good considering how much business we were bringing at that time. So, thesedays we only visit a couple of times a month - with our kids & in laws, gramps etc... and split the bill. When you read the TA reviews here also bear in mind that Australians aren't necessarily the most discerning bunch when it comes to shopping centre food 'on the hoof', so whilst valid to an extent I'd say that for people who travel more and eat the best sushi they can afford internationally - this is what it is. OK, but overpriced. Non-challenging, comfortable and ordinary. If you stroll 30yds down to the food court you can buy full sushi rolls for $2.75 rather than $4-5 per plate, or the Japanese noodle bar and a huge bowl of ramen for $9 rather than a noodle salad @ CBT for $16-18 - which is another way we save thesedays. I also strongly disagree with Karlee M - this is certainly NOT the best place to go for sushi on the Sunshine Coast - there are several others I'd always go to first - it's just that this place is tacked onto the biggest shopping centre here. All-up, as I say, OK - but could try a lot harder.
