“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

We booked online at a great deal for 7 days stay. Once arriving we were booked in to room 13, this is right by the pool so no privacy if wanting to keep curtains open, the management were very accomodating and moved us to a room two floors up. There was unlimited cooking utensils to look after yourself, two bathrooms and a nice warm decor throughout. The fans worked well when you had the doors open on the balcony.
The staff were very polite and helpful for our needs, pointing out where local restauants and shops were.
It is a two km walk to the large shopping centre which has all your coles, target, cinemas etc, the cafes and other restaurants are all within 1 km. The beach and river is a stone throws away which was great for taking a magazine to relax.
The pool was a great size to either do laps or just lay around, a bbq is also available. The spa can also be used but the jets tend to "blow" you away so did not last very long in there.
The only down side of the trip was that generally at hotels, or even self contained appartments that I have been to before they still stock up on your general items throughout your stay. This was not so here. I did not pack body wash or moisturiser as this is usually supplied and I can get away with not packing unneccessary items.
Also annoying was that if you used the limited sachets of sugar and coffee you had to get your own, what was even more ridiculous was the supply of two toilet rolls and again you run out you buy (sold at reception for $1 a roll, we went to coles and got better stuff for the same price) so I ended up having to spend approx $30 on things that if knowing I would have packed my own supply as I had plenty of it at home.
So plan ahead or be aware of not getting caught out on the toilet.
overall I really enjoyed my stay and would just bring my own supplies next time, as I went there for relaxation and left there achieving this. also if you have time use the lovely girl in the beauty room for a quick 30 min massage will make your holiday even more worthwhile.

Room Tip: anything level three upwards for a view of the ocean.

The best views on the Sunshine Coast, all along the beach from the Mooloolaba to the Maroochydore River. Heated swimming pool and large protected spa. Walk to the beach or river for a swim or go fishing. Also close to Clubs, Restaurants, Cafes, shopping and weekend markets. Unfortuneately the weekend we were there was when ex Cyclone Oswald hit the coast, so we experienced extremely dangerous weather in SE QLD. Also that part of the coast lost power.

Room Tip: We had a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit on the 7th floor and had uniterupted 180 degree views.

Opening the door to Apt 44 (9th floor) we were met by a postcard view of both the Maroochy River and the surf beach looking north toward Coolum/Noosa. The 2 bed apt itself had a great layout. The kitchen was immaculate. Both bathrooms were clean and adequate.

My issue is with the lounge/living room decor. The photos on the Chateau Royale website show very bright rooms with modern furnishings. We got a plain old chocolate brown carpet and a chocolate brown leather lounge suite. (Leather and skin on hot days is just horrible.) There is no air/con though the ceiling fans with the glass doors open was adequate most of the time. I appreciate that some of the rooms are up for a refurb. but it's such a downer when you get one that hasn't been done.

Despite the awful lounge room and the 'nasty' blue polyester bed quilts (that I stored away in the cupboard the minute I saw them), the property managers were excellent to deal with and our stay was really pleasant. The proximity to the surf beach and the local shops is such a bonus.

Room Tip: I think it would be fair to ask if you are getting a refurbished room. From other reviews they sound...

Fantastic location for those who enjoy an uninterrupted ocean view, sea breezes and being away from what can be the hustle and bustle of other beaches. Stayed with girlfriends for a week as a wedding prelude and had a wonderful time. Views to die for, great local cafe precinct within walking distance - and if you get a chance visit the wonderful day spa in house - you definitely wont be disappointed. Staff were friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome.

My family of four (two adults, two kids) stayed in a two bedroom apartment; several nights in room 32 (level 6) and a couple in room 37 (level 7) (we extended our stay and had to move rooms). We were travelling with several other family groups attending the same wedding and I'd say room 32 was one of the best we saw. The room was renovated and had nice furnishing and the beds were very comfortable. The view over the ocean and river was beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking items, crockery etc. The rooms we viewed on lower floors were quite dated and not nearly as nice. Room 37 on floor 7 was also modernly furnished and nice and we saw other rooms on higher floors that were good, too. The pool and spa area is lovely and we spent a lot of time relaxing on the sun loungers while the kids played endlessly in the pool. The BBQ was a bit hit-and-miss though - sometimes it would work and other times it would take an hour (seriously) to cook a sausage. The location is fantastic - right near the beach and within 2 mins of the Cotton Tree shopping/cafe area. Everything you need is within a few minutes walk. The Cotton Tree acquatic centre is also near by, which has a water play park for younger kids and two lap pools.

Room Tip: I'd recommend requesting rooms on floor 6 and above.

We had room 523 - when we walked in we were amazed! It's a 3BR apartment and I couldnt say anything bad about it. Furniture was lovely and modern, huge balcony off the main living area and a decent balcony from the main bedroom. Very close to the little main street shops of Cotton Tree. Bakery, IGA, cafes and a few clothes shops. This is a great place. The pool and spa are awesome too. Lots of sun when you need it, or shade if you dont

The positive points for Chateau Royale is it's location. Close to the beach and shops. Plenty of local cafes to walk to, surf club just inutes away. Unfortunately the accomodation didn't live up to expectations. We were on the second floor in apartment 16. The apartment was pretty tired and outdated (especially the kitchen and bathrooms). There was no air con. The bedroom with the single beds had a very musty smell and one of the pillows had a foul smell. There were also a number of lights not working and no compendium in our room. When we let reception know about all these issues they said they weould fix them. The following day, they fixed the lights. The musty smell and smelly pillow was never resolved. When we asked for a compendium we were repeatedly questioned on whether we had looked for it properly? It basically took an argument to get a copy. Some of the staff was really helpful but most didn't seem interested. It is a pity as this could be a fantastic location with a bit of renovation and a bit more custeomr care and looking after the details. It doesn't deserve it's star rating at the moment.

Room Tip: Some rooms were far better than others. My cousin was in a room on the 6th floor which was great (n...
