“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

My family of four (two adults, two kids) stayed in a two bedroom apartment; several nights in room 32 (level 6) and a couple in room 37 (level 7) (we extended our stay and had to move rooms). We were travelling with several other family groups attending the same wedding and I'd say room 32 was one of the best we saw. The room was renovated and had nice furnishing and the beds were very comfortable. The view over the ocean and river was beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking items, crockery etc. The rooms we viewed on lower floors were quite dated and not nearly as nice. Room 37 on floor 7 was also modernly furnished and nice and we saw other rooms on higher floors that were good, too. The pool and spa area is lovely and we spent a lot of time relaxing on the sun loungers while the kids played endlessly in the pool. The BBQ was a bit hit-and-miss though - sometimes it would work and other times it would take an hour (seriously) to cook a sausage. The location is fantastic - right near the beach and within 2 mins of the Cotton Tree shopping/cafe area. Everything you need is within a few minutes walk. The Cotton Tree acquatic centre is also near by, which has a water play park for younger kids and two lap pools.

Room Tip: I'd recommend requesting rooms on floor 6 and above.

We had room 523 - when we walked in we were amazed! It's a 3BR apartment and I couldnt say anything bad about it. Furniture was lovely and modern, huge balcony off the main living area and a decent balcony from the main bedroom. Very close to the little main street shops of Cotton Tree. Bakery, IGA, cafes and a few clothes shops. This is a great place. The pool and spa are awesome too. Lots of sun when you need it, or shade if you dont

The positive points for Chateau Royale is it's location. Close to the beach and shops. Plenty of local cafes to walk to, surf club just inutes away. Unfortunately the accomodation didn't live up to expectations. We were on the second floor in apartment 16. The apartment was pretty tired and outdated (especially the kitchen and bathrooms). There was no air con. The bedroom with the single beds had a very musty smell and one of the pillows had a foul smell. There were also a number of lights not working and no compendium in our room. When we let reception know about all these issues they said they weould fix them. The following day, they fixed the lights. The musty smell and smelly pillow was never resolved. When we asked for a compendium we were repeatedly questioned on whether we had looked for it properly? It basically took an argument to get a copy. Some of the staff was really helpful but most didn't seem interested. It is a pity as this could be a fantastic location with a bit of renovation and a bit more custeomr care and looking after the details. It doesn't deserve it's star rating at the moment.

Room Tip: Some rooms were far better than others. My cousin was in a room on the 6th floor which was great (n...

I have stayed many times and was glad to find our unit had been renovated as some were getting rather shabby. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. The location is great, beach over the road and cute shops close at hand. You can walk to dinner in Cotton Tree. Beauty Spa in same building which could come in handy!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and a renovated apartment.

We had a room on the first floor, No. 13 and our first impression was that it was a huge disappointment. There was a musty, old smell in the room and the furniture was very outdated. The walls and furnishings were pale blue and peach - not modern at all! The bedrooms were very small and the furniture was at least 30 years old! The original bathrooms were ugly and there was paint peeling off the walls. The dual flush toilet didn't work either. The ceiling fans and bathroom fittings were rusty. At 6am we were woken by a loud buzzing outside our room from some sort of motor from an air con or pump, which was very annoying. Overall, it was nothing like the pictures that we saw on the website and we won't be going back again!

Room Tip: I would request to stay on at least the fifth floor, our friends stayed on that floor and the rooms...

We had our second stay at the Chateau and once again thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great position - park your car and walk everywhere for two weeks! Everything is just so close and at hand. I would definitely recommend it to everyone (and I do). Kids loved the spa and I was a bit partial to the sauna. There is a massage business on the ground floor if you want a rub down and it is well priced. The whole place is VERY clean and the management take pride in keeping it pristine. You can't beat the frendliness of the management and they will bend over backwards to ensure you have a great stay - Thanks to Neil, Chrissy and Jodie.
Go and stay - you won't be disappointed!

Clean, spacious and awesome location. Friendly staff. Very happy with our stay. Close to surf beaches, river and play ground. Walk to great food supplies to cook in the well equipped kitchens. Also plenty of family friendly eat out options in the area such as the surf club! Great pool area too and sauna. Plenty of great activities.
