“Perfect place to do nothing and relax!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2011

Such a quiet, private retreat, perfect when all you want to do is get away from reality and do absolutely nothing!!
Only 6 "pavillions" (each room is its own little building), everyone is there to relax so you know you won't be annoyed by any noisy guests.
Each pavillion has its own private hot-tub - not a modern plastic one, but a beautiful wooden one, which results in the water having this beautiful teak aroma! Inside the pavillion, if it is cold you have your own real fireplace, a huge dual shower bathroom, a TV/DVD in both the lounge room and bedroom.

The grounds are beautifully manicured, and only a 100m walk down the hill is a beautiful little river with a [very little but still relaxing] waterfall, that you can sit by or play in the water [if you don't mind the temperature!!

The Tamarind restaurant was nothing short of AMAZING. I can honestly say it is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! The flavours were amazing - the only bad thing about it is the meal sizes were a bit too big, so we couldn't fit in dessert!! Prices were very reasonable too for an a la carte restaurant.

The location is a couple of km's from Maleny, so you can also drive in to town and go for a lazy walk up the main street to look at the shops or go to one of the many cafes.

It was an incredible boutique experience. It's tucked away in a secluded little hideaway on the edge of a bush land sanctuary. The pavilions are modern, large and stylish. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a weekend getaway that far exceeded our expectations. The food at the Tamarind restaurant was incredible as well - the flavours outstanding. Highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible! I could write a long review, but I will keep it short... See the photos also.

Room:
Private and away from others, new and modern, beautiful fixtures and finishes, attention to detail, all necessary amenities, views are stunning, great fireplace, comfortable furniture, selection of reading material/magazines, full kitchenette.

Location:
Close to everything. 20-30 mins of beautiful driving to get anywhere you want to go. Very private.

Food:
The best part. We had the full degustation with matching wines. Every course was mind-blowing. The coconut soup was a winner, as were the two salads. Ingredients used were all so fresh. Wines matched very well, which is hard to do with Thai. Would stay again just so I could eat dinner, drink cocktails and stumble back to my room! Breakfast in the morning was just as good. Fresh, light and top quality.

Staff:
Professional, not overbearing, friendly. Fantastic service all-round.

Have already booked to stay again. Awesome place!
Would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone.

A rainy night, we were recommended this location for dinner, it was described to us (incorrectly) as a new Thai restaurant with cabins...oh so wrong!! But what a find, tucked away from the road, you wouldn't know it's there. We were looked after amazingly well (young American girl...sorry, don't know your name!), chef's cooked up a storm, fantastic tasting food, well presented, great wine to compliment it, even handled the extras spice I'm not used to! Modern setting, the most comfortable seating i've ever sat in to eat. When we learned what this place REALLY was, we've obtained further information (from helpful staff!) to organise a stay when money/time permits. Highly recommended to eat here, sorry it's on this part of TripAdvisor but there is not independent restaurant listing I could find!!

My husband and I have just returned from Spicers Tamarind where we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. We have booked another three nights in June because we had such a superb time; Paul Blain's Thai banquet was absolutely delicious and very, very generous, the continental breakfasts with interesting fresh juices and fruit salad as well as mini quiches were extra special, the location tucked away in the Maleny countryside is simply beautiful especially in misty rainy weather, all members of the staff were professional as well as being friendly, warm and welcoming, our cabin was impeccably presented and maintained with lots of treats such as heated towel rails, gorgeous toiletries and superior chocolates on the bed each evening, and the in-house dog also added much homeliness plus joie de vivre during our visit. We look forward to lighting the fire in June, spending more time in the hot tub and enjoying the pretty gardens. Highly recommended. Not one thing we could find not to our liking at Spicers Tamarind.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Tamarind and returned for our 7 year wedding anniversary recently.
We had such a wonderful time we always said that we would return one day, so our expectations were pretty high, after such a great first experience we were really looking forward to our second. Seven years is a long time for a resort and it was great to see that the Tamarind is still doing very well, now known as the Spicers Tamarind it has grown but it hasn't lost the true sense of what it always promised to be.
It was great to see that Paul Blain is still there, now as General Manager, we were lucky enough to have a personal cooking lesson with Paul when we stayed on our honeymoon which was a highlight, as was him delivering breakfast to us every morning which unfortunately is not the case nowadays. Breakfast is served in the restaurant, and even though this experience didn't disappoint I think having the option to decide between the two would have been nice.
There has been a few additions since we were there, a pool and spa and the Pavillions now have a spa on the front decks instead of in the bathroom which now houses a doubled headed shower - swoon! What a great decision. On arriving at our Pavillion I was immediately imagining myself relaxing in the spa with a glass of champagne amongst the setting of bush and sound of the Obi Obi falls, total indulgence. There is also more to come with 6 other Pavillions I believe currently being built on the property along with a day spa. The grounds are very private you aren't running into people and you certainly don't hear any of your neighbours, great to see that space hasn't been compromised during the growth of the resort.
From check in to check out you can't fault the service and staff. Everyone was friendly, and the attention to detail exceeds your expectations. You felt extremely looked after yet left alone to enjoy the privacy at the same time.
The Tamarind will always be a special place for my husband and I, not only due to it correlating with a special time in our lives but because it is a truly beautiful place.
It was so great to go back and have your expectations blown away, again. Thanks again to all of the staff who looked after us. We will be back and we won't be leaving it so long until we do next time - I didn't want to leave nor did I want to get out of the fluffy white bath robes!!
