Truly outstanding value for lunch. Our party of four discerning souls went for the $25 special and found out that it's a real beauty. It consists of a main, a dessert and a glass of wine.
I had the beer battered fish and chips and I am still coming to grips with how good it was. Two huge pieces of ocean perch in light and crispy batter with a nicely proportioned serve of fries and a little salad on the side. It's a staggeringly good dish. See my photo if you don't believe me.
The chef is a visionary as this is easily the best meal of its type I've had anywhere, Australia or overseas. The fish was beautifully cooked and still delectably moist. The batter was fluffy and gorgeous. The fries too were quite tasty.
My companions were also very happy with their mains. The house wine that came with the meal was also perfectly respectable.
I went for the pavlova for dessert. It too was lovely. It's a soft pav covered in blackberries. It was light and very moorish indeed.
The service was brisk, friendly and very efficient. I might also say that we were very taken by the location of the restaurant. It's bright and modern with a gorgeous outlook. Any place that has a view of the sea and a soft breeze coming in from three of its four sides can't be too bad can it.
I take my hat off to another terrific Magnetic Island restaurant. This was an outstanding meal at a very reasonable price. Can you please all come to the mainland and teach others there how to do what you are doing here. Bravo again.
