“A most magnificent place...would love to live there:)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

Bribie Island has three different areas to be by the water. There is the passage, the channel and the ocean. Each are beautiful and unique. We stayed in a house in Banksia Beach overlooking the passage and it was divine, even in winter. There are lots of 'older' people living there so it's very quiet. A lovely spot to get away from it all.

“Struggling Backwater”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2003

Originally a place people retired to is becoming a modernised backwater; with young seachange couples moving into a make believe luxury suburb next to a mosquito infested swamp. Yes I do love Bribie, the days are beautiful on the beach, but the locals make life unbearable. Rule one do not deal with local businesses, they rob you at every oppportunity with some exceptions. In the 70s criminals from the southern states holidayed here, it was a neutral zone for them; unfortunately some of their hangers on stayed and set up business in the service industries. Rule two do not be different from the locals, ie intolerant of everything and everyone with some exceptions. Rule three by all means visit but do not live here.

“Bribie boredom”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2003

My parents shipped us to Bribie 10 years ago and I found the locals small-minded and very unwelcoming to newcomers. All they do is the same thing, and history just repeats itself. Terrorise the neighbourhood when your a teenager, go to the one nightclub week in, week out then when you get sick of doing that, find a partner who you dont even like all that much, buy a house together, get married, have kids and live out the rest of your life having not seen what else the world has to offer. I hated it so much, i moved overseas and still two years on, have no desire to return except to see my parents and some sunshine.

“The Island of Boredom”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2003

Well I have been living on Bribie Island for about 10 years now. The only thing that we have gained is more g*****n houses and nothing to do. WE NEED SOMETHING TO DO! People complain about the stuff the teenagers do. Go out and party, cause havok. WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO INSTEAD? We cant go to the bloody movies, because the movie cinema we have here has broken seats, barely any room and no bloody air con. Come on guys! Dont have any arcades, LAN's, shopping centres. Nothing. We have a beach? The water is yellow, I havent been there for atleast 2 years now. I go there occasionaly to see what its like, but nothing has changed. Used to be able to camp everywhere, now its either a national park area or you need to pay a fee of around $20 per person. Its a joke. If you want to come, come enjoy yourself. But all you will be doing is laying in your apartment, with nothing to do.
