“Great place in a beautiful part of Queensland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and were the only guests at the time. There is a lot to like about this place... the location is gorgeous, the house is magnficent and the very friendly and stately owner Mike will do anything to help you have an unforgettable stay (e.g. bookings for restaurants, directions to galleries and wineries, and selecting perfect mood-setting music).

There's plenty at and around Zengarra to keep you busy if that's your thing, and plenty to keep you at peace if that's what you're after too. Even the resident Labradors seem to sense your preference and behave accordingly.

We dined there one night and were suitably impressed. Mike got a post-dinner fire going and we had a great chat over a snifter or two. My encounters with Chris, however, were bizarre. I didn't warm to her at all and by the end of our stay it was fairly clear the feeling was mutual.

We laughed it off though, and in the end were very grateful to them for giving us a great pre-baby getaway.

Thank you very much for your kind comments and we were very pleased that you enjoyed your pre-baby getaway quiet weekend in the beautiful Scenic Rim.
We are glad you were impressed by Christine's Five Course Candle-light dinner, it's good to know her hard work is appreciated as she had tailored it specially to your coming baby.
Happy that your drive the next day around some of the fabulous wineries we have here so close by went so well and thanks for collecting the extra case of wine for us on your travels; the Scenic Rim wines are growing in demand from our guests.
Enjoy the avocados from the orchard and we hope everything goes well with the birth; do let us know when the happy event has occurred. Chris is very sorry that you did not appreciate her sense of humour, which she uses to hide her shyness; never happened before, and she has promised not to joke with you when you return.

Kookaburras in the morning! ......cicadas at night!............well cicadas all day actually! You are in the country here. A lovely spot where you can do as much or as little as you wish.
Even your own "Concert on the Hill" with Christine playing her piano and marimba.....the beautiful sounds coming from her music studio.
Mike, as mine host has been born to the job, and has many stories to tell.
......and then dinner is a must . Beautiful food ....as good as it gets sitting on the deck ......most enjoyable.

Thanks for your review you were great fun to look after. Christine was playing Phantom of the Opera on the Marimba beautifully last night when we had a fantastic sunset, I was sitting with guests sipping a superb wine to listen. It's a tough job! Please come again.

Pastoral surroundings, spaciously elegant, modern homestead accommodation with comfortable guest areas. Interestingly furnished with oriental artefacts and a good library. Mine hosts - attentive, friendly and helpful. Nearby there are plenty of sights of interest to keep you occupied or you can stay in and read. The B&B is out of the way, so night dining there is the best option. Why wouldnt you? The food is excellent and varied and its setting - charming.

Serendipity plays its role in a B & B but we are very lucky, we do get lovely guests and hear fascinating stories of very interesting lives. Thanks for coming to stay, and we all (including the labradors) hope to see you again soon.

We stayed for three nights in October. Breakfasts were really tasty and it was so nice to be able to eat them out on the deck over looking the pool, trees and the mountains. So peaceful and beautifully quiet. Could happily have stayed much long if time had allowed.
The evening meals were excellent with local produce being used as much as possible. Our host was very gracious, kind and friendly and the house decor fascinating. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The music was great and the conversation good, but we never felt intruded upon. We would recommend Zengarra to anyone who is looking for a relaxing peaceful break with good music, dvd library, books, pool and walking and site seeing.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice and beautifully decored, although it was nice to face the front and to sit out on...

We stayed for two nights mid week, and there was plenty to enjoy. The accommodation itself is stylish yet comfortable. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were excellent, using fresh local produce as much as possible. There is a delightful heated pool and a large library of books and DVDs. Chris, who is a talented musician, provides recitals on grand piano or concert marimba in the impressive music room, which is filled with exotic instruments and art works.

Chris and Mike were hospitable and attentive while fading away unobtrusively to allow guests to enjoy peace and quiet when they wish.

It was delightful to spend this time in the peace and quiet of the bush surroundings, while enjoying such a high standard of accommodation.

We stayed overnight while visiting the region to do mountain-biking. The room was ready early, very clean and pleasant. The 3-course evening meal and the breakfast were great, and the conversation enjoyable, with our choice of music in the evening. It's very close to Spicers Gap for cycling and walking fans, and 16km from the trails round Boonah.

Room Tip: The blue room is at the back of the house, but has a shower/bath. The green and red rooms just have...
