“should have been better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

The room was nice, and the owners were pleasant, the pool was nice and warm.
Problem was it was noisy and there was ablatant lack of respect. We were awoken to the sound of gravel being shoveled and a wheelie bin being used as a wheelbarrow which was being thrown on the ground. Also the blinds just allowed the sun to pour into the room. We decided to go out and rest in the arvo we came back to our room but now the apartment above was being steam cleaned so hoses were running everywhere and the noise was terrible, we turned up the tv and laid down, only to be forced outside again, this time we had to move our car so they could re-paint the car bays, as i walked to the car some guy with a leaf blower just continued blowing dirt and dust into my eyes, obviously he could not stop for the 15 seconds it took for me to walk to the car.
The second morning was much the same, 7.30am and kids screaming outside the window and people using our outside table to smoke at so the smell drifted under the door.
Also the bed was terribly hard. Apart from that it was ok the room was spacious and clean, we had romantic candles for the spa and the tv was a good size and quality, and as i said the pool was very nice, also location is awesome.
lyn was also very sympathetic and gave us $40 back off our room which of course is appreciated.

We stayed for 2 nights in a 1 bedroom apartment. Good accommodation but a bit dated and bland.
If stairs are a problem ask for a ground floor room.
Nice and quiet, nice pool.
Parking was Ok but a bit of a squeeze with a big car.
Great cafe on the corner.... 50m away :)

We spent 4 days at this resort at the beginning of this month. Chose it because of TA & the good vibes from Lyn when I called to make the booking. We had a king size spa room, it was VERY spacious, clean & well presented. We used all the services offered ... loved the heated pool & spa ... the FREE laundry service & the under cover parking. Lyn & Terry were perfect hosts who assisted us whenever asked & gave advice as to places we might like to go to. Having driven from Perth, stopping at numerous hotels ... including Melbourne ... Mornington Peninsula & Moonlight Bay Resort were like a little place of heaven! We will go back & recommend it to everyone!

We booked 3 nights in a 2 br apartment on the strength of reviews on TripAdvisor and while we found it ok, we certainly weren't blown away.

Pros: spacious, cooking facilities allowed self catering, guest laundry was useful, walking distance to shops & beach, pool was heated quite hot so despite freezing weather kids got to swim (which they loved).

Cons: decor / atmosphere very ordinary (one review said it was 'modern & trendy' but we obviously have different tastes. It was very beige and very tiled with a few generic seaside prints). Not much of a shower. One bedroom window wouldn't close properly which let in an icy breeze.

Overall, ok but we probably won't be back, not least because we didn't particularly like Rye as a place for a holiday. It reminded me of the more economically depressed parts of the NSW Central Coast but we did have terrible weather, maybe it's better in summer.

Recently my Wife and I accompanied by another couple were touring Victoria and needed a suitable place to stay,on the Mornington Peninsular, for a couple of nights.
Being members of the Golden Chain Hotels we consulted our book of Golden Chain Hotels and decided to phone The Moonlight Bay Resort.
WOW...did we pick a Winner!
This accommodation was the pick of all the previous places that we managed to stay at during our Travels in Western Australia then South Australia and country Victoria. Apart for being value for money the accommodation and the hosts were first class.
If anyone intends traveling around country Victoria make sure that you allow time for a stopover at The Moonlight Bay Resort in Rye.

Me and my boyfriend spent 2 nights in a King suite which was great value for money. I have a million positive things to say about Moonlight Bay Resort. Rooms and facilities are modern and clean. We had a corner spa bath in our room which was fantastic. The hotel is on a quiet road with easy access to the beach and street. There is free off street parking and an outdoor spa and pool, which is heated in the cooler months. The owners are a married couple, Lyn and Terry, who show a lot of pride in their hotel and made us feel very welcome. I would recommend Moonlight Bay Resort to any couple or family looking for a fun and relaxing holiday. Next time I stay in Rye I will definitely be staying here!

We stayed here last night (one night getaway from the city) and couldn't have asked for more.
We had booked the Studio spa room and when checked in we were informed that we had been upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment with corner spa at no extra cost.
The apartment was fantastic, very clean, very modern decor (very tastefully decorated).
No noise at all from the road/bars (we were the closest room to the main strip and had a very peaceful night's sleep (saturday night).
We asked for a late checkout of 11am (usually a $15 charge per hour for late checkout) and were told there would be no extra charge.
Owner was so very friendly. Restaurants literally 20 second walk away.
Overall perfect getaway from the city, we will be back for sure.
Thank you!
