“FANTASTIC RELAXING WEEKEND”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

Booked a long week end at Station Guest House recently and have to say what an excellent
B & B. Terrific roomy accommodation, very clean.
Host could not do enough for us, cooked magnificent breakfasts, very obliging and helped us
throughout our stay, whether locating restaurants or places to see.
Will and have recommended Staion Guest House to all our freinds and cannot wait to visit again
Sue & Glenn Fyson

Room Tip: Stayed in the Tuscon Room, open fireplace, period decor

We stayed at the Station House 2 weeks ago. What a wonderful experience. My husband and I were showing 2 Canadians a little of Victoria and our stay at this property was a highlight. We were fortunate enough to be the only guests staying on this night, but there is ample room for a full house as such. It was a chilly Autumn night and the open fire was lovely. The Decor of the property is eclectic and interesting. The facilities are great, and include fridge, microwave and all the bits and pieces you need.
There is a 12 seat dining table, ample chairs and couches and a quaint verandah with seating. The two bedrooms our group occupied were very spacious and well appointed.

Our breakfast the next morning was excellent and we chose to pay a small fee for a cooked breakfast. It was satisfying and the dining room is again quaint and interesting. Our host, Linton was most accomodating and helpful. A footnote that must be included is the facgt that the excellent hotel- The Farmers Arms is about 100 metres up the road. This pub is great!!! A wonderful little local with an excellent dining room. The smoked duck breast salad was to die for! I consider the close proximity of the B&B and the Farmers Arms to be a big selling point!

I would recommend this place to anyone who likes something a little quirky, but still quite luxurious.

Room Tip: The king suite was excellent.

Very relaxing weekend with friends. The host was very hospitable. Very cold weather, but the open fire was ideal.

The place was average - largish room, weird decor, a bit out of town but nice and close to the Farmer's Arms hotel (bonus). Just expected something a little more polished for Daylesford. Brekky was simple. Atmosphere and decor lacked finesse and style.

Absolutely loved this place. So comfortable and full of old world charm. I am coming back soon. Great position near market and station. Beautiful fire place and antiques. Nice host who treated us very well.

We stayed at the Staion Guest House for one night, having never stayed at a B&B in Daylsford before. We arrived to check in and right away were told that we were too early (it was just after 1 and I hadn't noticed that on our booking confirmation check in was 2 - so that was my mistake). After appearing and acting quite put out the owner / manager (Linton?) allowed us to check in. He showed us to a lovely room but without a bathroom. My booking was for a room with an ensuite which I said to him. He said it wasn't and that this was all we could have. Luckily I'd printed out my confirmation and showed him that I'd booked a room with ensuite, not shared facilities. He said that my confirmation was wrong and that he'd have to update the site I booked through (which was their own site!!). Eventually he showed us to another room, which was really really tiny and dark but at least had a bathroom.

The room was clean but so small. The bed was really springy and made a lot of noise if you tried to move. The property itself was very nice and the communal lounge very nicely decorated. Breakfast was not included, which surprised me for a B&B but like I said, we haven't stayed in Daylsford before so maybe this is normal (next time I would check though). There was a kettle in the room and some intanst coffee sachets and tea bags (milk was out in the communal area).

Overall an ok stay, but with so much choice in Daylsford I wouldn't stay here again.

Cost-cutting tired owner skimps on the little things: lousy tea and coffee, no yoghurt, cooked breakfast not included; pity because really nice old property in great position
