“Relax and enjoy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

I stayed in the YHA already 10 years ago. Everything was fine. Many place have changed, but not the YHA. Its an old historic building with charm. The lady from the reception was really nice and helped us with everything. The place was very clean and looks much more better as all other YHA i have seen in australia during our trip. Of course, a new building is more comfortable, but the old building has charm and fit perfect in the lovely bundanoon. Small supermarket and not many place for dinner in town, but the Glowworm glen, the wombats we have seen and the national park nearby make the place special. No matter how many years it takes, we will come back to the Bundanoon YHA.

If you are after a great place to stay for an affordable price then this is the place. Just be prepared for shared facilities - kitchen, toilets and showers. Overall the place is very clean and on par with most other YHA's I have stayed at. There are two male and four female shared showers. There was no problems with them. The common lounge is very good with all new furniture. The dining room is more than large enough to fit everyone.

Room Tip: Rooms 8 & 9 are near reception and the kitchen so if you are one to sleep in then steer clear of...

I have visited this gem of a hostel a few times and I always get great sleep here. It seems to attract a respectful clientele.
The staff-Alison, Glenn and Andrew are helpful and attentive to the needs of the guests.
It is a superb place just to relax and do nothing. It is very spacious inside out and there are many nooks and crannies where one can have some privacy and read a good book.
It is one of the cleanest places I have stayed at.
Probably one of the best YHAs in Australia

Room Tip: One of the little alcove rooms are the best so that during your sleep in you don't hear the earl...

A fantastic place. It was originally built over a hundred years ago as a guest-house and it shows. It even looks welcoming when you first see it, and it seems to be well laid out, and the rooms are a good size and kitchen and dining facilities were good. It was a great start to the day being able to eat breakfast on the verandah, and at the end of the day we enjoyed a book in the cosy sitting room. Allison keeps the place very clean and organised and is always helpful. Full compliments to her and her helpers (whoever and wherever they are). We left the car there and walked the 10 minutes into Bundanoon for a coffee, and it's only an extra 20 minutes into Morton National Park itself (unfortunately for our legs the walk back out is up a very steep hill in parts). It's only a short walk to the beautiful Glow Worm Glen, which we did one evening. It was good to base ourselves in Bundanoon but when we felt the need we could take the short drive to nearby towns, and one day we went to Fitzroy Falls and Kangaroo Valley when we wanted a change from the healthy walking exercise. Kitchen facilities are adequate, and would be needed on a longer stay because of the small choice of restaurants and cafes in the town. The only downside (and minor) is the place is on the main street in Bundanoon and you do get the occasional train going past (I'd have put the sleeping areas on the side away from the trains), so there is a bit of noise but not a serious problem, it didn't detract from our wonderful experience staying here. We also were caught by surprise that Bundanoon is a bottled water free town, so be prepared to fill up bottles with the (perfectly drinkable) tap water before any bush walks.

It was our first stop heading south from Sydney. The Southern Highlands are a wonderful place with several national parks to visit, the small town of Bundanoon seems to be picked up from an old postcard and the hostel is, generally speaking, nice too. Only one remark: we might have picked up the unlucky room 'cause the cleaning was not so good and the room and the lining were a little bit smelly... I'm sorry to downgrade the general evaluation..

We love this place! A nice old guest house set in a beautiful garden, very friendly manager who really seems to care about this place, spotlessly clean, comfy reading room with fireplace and old piano, well equipped kitchen and nice rooms. It's a fantastic place to stay if you want to go exploring the beautiful Morton National Park. Bundanoon is a very cute little village, by the way. It can get quite cold and humid in the rooms at night when it's raining, but all the beds have got woollen blankets to keep you warm.
