5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2010

See my review of Bundanoon as a destination, we didn't 'want' for anything while we stayed here, even some food for the ponies/horses, we were a cosy unit toasting marsh mallows on the log fire at night, walking, cycling and picnicking by day, our two girls were over the moon about the new born ducklings, too....
We'll definitely go there again, we haven't been so relaxed and happy on many other holidays and best of all, it didn't 'break the bank', which proves you don't have to be rich to have a good holiday..

2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2010

In all fairnesss, there are 3 dwellings in total (therefore can't comment on the new purpose-built cabins), we stayed in the original historic Guest House. The original open fireplace was a dismal disappointment, very minimal heat was generated (month of June). We tried everything we could, but we froze. The smell from the smoke saturated our clothes and hair. Despite the fireplace doing its' thing, I could breath fog from my mouth in most parts of the house, it was that damn cold. Early on the first night I sought sanctuary in the bed with it's electric blanket. By the second night I was again contemplating going to bed at 8:00pm and reading to escape the cold, but we thought "lets go home and get warm". The concept of the original old Guest House is a good one, and maybe in the warmer months we would have been ok. The owner assured us that we are one of the rare guests to complain about the freezing cold (inside the house), but somehow I doubt this.

It is such a shame we could have helped this guest ! Unfortunately they didnt ask for assistance we would have popped over and got the fire roaring.

A fire should burn brightly & be lovely and hot. A fire that smokes and smoulders is not going properly and needs to be reset.

We now have an instruction sheet and a photograph of how a log fire should look for the open fire novice.

We live just across the road and up the hill. If you experience difficulty lighting the fire we are most eager to come and help you.

The Original Homestead is well insulated with insulation of a high R factor - even higher than what is recommended for The Southern Highlands. It has 2 log fires, bedroom heaters, electric blankets, even electric throw rugs for snuggling up watching movies!

Dont forget to bring your marshmallows!
