“Spa Packages - Brilliant Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

My friends and I decided to have a spa break together. It was £89 for two, so about £45 a person. It was outstanding value, considering we got use of the spa, the pool, a room for the night, and a full english breakfast the next day. We used the heat and ice spa experience for about 3 or 4 hours in the morning, consisting of sauna, steam room, foot baths, experience showers, ice room etc - then relaxed in our rooms for a while before going swimming all afternoon. It was completely relaxing. The food at whittlebury was average, nothing special but reasonably priced. I would recommend booking your meal/s ahead as the lunch buffet had completely sold out! Clearly people are taking advantage of these brilliant deals. Go EARLY in the morning to the spa (before 9) as after 10.30 it gets very busy and everything is in use! Worth a try with friends as its something different than going to the cinema or clubbing! :)

Room Tip: If you book online you can leave notes to the staff, I requested rooms next to each other and twin b...

We were recommended this spa break by a good friend. Our previous experiences of spa breaks, have been quite tranquil places where you could recharge your batteries We were expecting a quite relaxing break, but all we got was loud spa full of hen parties & single sex groups who didn't know how to behave themselves. I partially blame the spa reception staff for not clearly spelling out what is acceptable behaviour & defiantly for not having a loud word with persistent offenders. My spa treatment was amazing and was the only thing that save what was a very disappointing visit. I've only wrote this review to save other couples from have what could be a lovely spa experience ruined!

Room Tip: Rooms with low numbers are nearer to the lift or stairs i.e.201-220 or 401-420. We stayed in room 4...

Dear barney53_11

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent visit.

I am sorry that your visit to Whittlebury did not meet your personal expectations and am most sorry if you found the spa to be too loud. We do have one of the largest hotel spa's in the country and can accommodate the larger groups and number of guests that smaller hotels and bespoke spa's cannot accommodate. We do advertise as being a sociable and busting spa, especialy at weekends when the spa is popular. During midweek there are days in which the spa is of course more tranquil and we have less of the larger groups visit. Having said this, we do have a wide range of mix of spa guests from couples to small groups of ladies as well.

On a positive note I am delighted that your spa treatment was amazing.

I do hope that perhaps you would be kind enough to visit us again.

Kind regards, Ruth

If you want to be treated as an individual and a valued customer, then DON'T come here!
The spa is good but there are so many people herded in that it feels like a money making machine. The whole emphasis of the hotel seems to be on the Spa, and we had to wait for almost an hour after the time we had been told we could check into our room (3 pm after a morning and lunch in the spa), for our room to be made available. No apologies except the fact that they had over 300 people staying! Other large hotels manage it. We had booked a dinner in Aston's Restaurant only to find ourselves having to eat in a massive function room, feeling like cattle again. No explanation was offered. The staff are all very professional and courteous, but do not seem to have the time to treat people as individuals.

Dear TraveloverEngland

Thank you for your valued review following your visit to Whittlebury Hall in August.

I am most sorry that you were unhappy with some aspects of your stay and that you did not personally feel like an individual. Despite Whittlebury having 213 bedrooms and having one of the largest hotel spa's in the country, we do pride ourselves on offering excllent guest service and our guests are treated as individuals, I am very sorry that you did not personally experience our usual excellent hospitality.

The Spa, due to it's capacity can accommodate larger amounts of guests that smaller, bespoke Spa's and Health Farms cannot accommodate and is popular.

Rooms are ready between 3pm and 4pm and this is explained to all guests upon checking in to the hotel.

Due to areas of one of our kitchens being upgraded, a desicion was made to close Astons Restaurant and serve evening meal in Brooklands. This should have been explained to you and I am sorry for any disappointment in the change of venue.

I do hope that you will be kind enough to visit us again in the future when I can assure you that your needs will be looked after.

Kind regards, Ruth

Visited Whittlebury after a recommendation, and sadly disappointed. Spa treatment was lovely but the spa had no idea of quiet and relaxed atmosphere, therapists talking very loudly people's mobile phones going off etc and no one intervening to stop this behaviour. Lunch was passable, but the evening meal was dreadful, when the chefs tell you "that you don't have to eat it" it doesn't inspire confidence and the waitress recommends the pudding that stands the chance of having defrosted enough well that says it all. Extremely sad to write this review but feel people should be aware of what to expect.

Dear Michelle G

Thank you for your review following your visit to Whittlebury in August and I was most sorry to read that you were disappointed with aspects of your stay.

On a positive note I am pleased that you loved your treatment but sorry that the Spa did not meet your expectations. We have one of the largest hotel spa's in the country and can accommodate the larger groups and number of guests that smaller spa's cannot accommodate. Our Spa is therefore sociable with a bustling atmosphere, although there are some mid-week days where the Spa does also have that quiet & tranquil feel. Having said this, mobile phones should be on silent whilst in the Spa & Leisure Club. Likewise, all members of the team should be quietely spoken whilst in the Treatment Room areas.

I am sorry if the evening meal was not to your liking and had we been made aware of this at the time the Food & Beverage Manager & Executive Head Chef would have gladly arranged alternative meals to ensure you left the restaurant happy and full. Our desserts and pastries are all made on site daily in our Pastry Kitchen by our dedicated and highly trained team and only desserts that are required to be frozen are done so. I apologise for any misunderstanding by the waitress or if she was merely recommending her favourite dessert - the Parfait that was on the menu during your stay.

I do hope that perhaps you would be kind enough to re-consider and visit us again.

Kind regards, Ruth

A birthday surprise for family member - 4 of us had afternoon champagne tea.

Lovely Spa Hotel, with lovely decor, but did find it rather odd that every bar, terrace, basically everywhere you could be served afternoon tea, had people wandering around in bath robes and slippers.. I know it's a spa but surely there must be somewhere in there you could go to eat, without this, even if it was just one place.

Service was a bit slow, and they got our order wrong, if I hadn't had noticed and compared all the tiers, we would definatly have been paying for something that we never had. But as soon as we mentioned it to the waiter, they quickly brought out the stuff they had missed off.

Would go again for the use of the spa, but I have been in nicer places. Nothing spectacular.

Dear PrincessK684

Thank you for your recent Trip Advisor review and valued comments regarding your Champagne Afternoon Tea.

Afternoon tea can be served either in the Hotel Lounge, Silverstone Bar or courtyards, however as we are a hotel with spa facilities we do have guests dressed in gowns throughout the premises and I am sorry if you found this a little off putting.

The meal should have been served to you in full without any item missing and I am glad that this was immediately resolved by the waiters and I apologise if the service was a little slow. Your feedback has been passed on to the Food & Beverage Manager.

I am pleased to read that you would like to return to use our spa facilities and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Kind regards, Ruth

I stayed here at a conference with work. The rooms are lovely really enjoyed the stay.
We took over the hotel the staff must have been exhausted but were efficient and polite always.
The only draw back was the heat and no air comditioning though they did supply a fan.

Dear lindadennis

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor following your visit to Whittlebury Hall with your work in July.

It was a pleasure to welcome your company back to Whittlebury and I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay, perhaps you will have the chance to visit on for leisure next time.

Regrettably no air conditioning is installed in our bedrooms and I do hope that on this occasion, you were not too uncomfortable and that the fan provided did help.

I do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you and your colleagues back to Whittlebury in the near future.

Disappointing mass catering from what is a typical conference hotel, but have stayed in a lot better. The spa facilities were good but vastly over crowded so not relaxing. First time I have had to have a fan on all night in a uk hotel, due to the over heated rooms. The rooms were comfortable so if its a convenient overnight stay this does the job but no frills.

Dear Butchers3

Thank you for your valued and constructive review following your visit to Whittlebury Hall in August.

I am sorry that on this occasion we did not meet all of your requirements. Like many hotels in the UK, we unfortunately do not have air conditioning in our bedrooms. Despite no heating being in operation throughout the summer months, due to the wonderful, hot summer period we were lucky enough to experience, the hotel did contain the heat. To try and make the temperature more comfortable for our guests, we did provide fans in all of our bedrooms.

I am pleased that you were able to experience and enjoy the Spa and Leisure facilities. Whittlebury does operate one of the largest hotel spa's in the country and is popular.

I do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Whittlebury in the near future.

Kind regards, Ruth
