“Now Sunday Lunch 'til 6pm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Late on a Sunday ... as usual, where to have lunch?

The Watermill now serves until 6pm, excellent, been before (odd vegs), but
knew it was reliable.

Carvery, only two meats on, was 4pm, can excuse, had both turkey and beef.
Vegetables a bit dried out, it was late, but quite edible.

Very attentive staff, nice pint of Sheep, lady wife glass of reasonable red.

Prices a bit higher than last visit, but pretty good value.

If you need a late lunch on Sunday, The Watermill is a good choice.

“New manager new menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

There has been a recent change of ownership, the new manager comes from the Fat Badger in Harrogate, which is a cracking eating establishment. the first thing he did was revise the rather hit and miss opening hours, its now 7 days a week lunch and evening. The menu has had a revamp and now is more varied and has a few unusual items (the sharing platters are set to become the stuff of legend!)
The beer (Black sheep) was fresh and well kept. The outside seating area is magnificent with the large koi pond in the centre and the high banking round the side providing a wind break.
The service is attentive and the price is very reasonable. I'm sure it will be a great hit with both visitors and locals alike.

“Great food, friendly staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013 via mobile

Having read great reviews on trip advisor and recommendations from friends, we chose the Watermill Carvery to celebrate a family birthday. We had a party of 10 so booked in advance. Got quite busy so would recommend booking. The staff were all very friendly, the Sunday Carvery was delicious (never seen Yorkshire puddings as big! :-). The Watermill is a lovely setting with an outside seating area and pond with carp and a little bridge crossing the pond. We had 2 children in the party and they were quite happy watching the fish and playing on the bridge. Would recommend this setting for big groups as it it very spacious.
Will definitely be going again.

“Sunday carvery. Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013 via mobile

Visited the Watermill for the first time this Sunday for their carvery. Had heard excellent reviews so I was hoping it lived up to the hype. And it did!
Service was very friendly and efficient. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the outside seating area is stunning. The carvery was one of the best I've ever had, so many choices of meat and veg, not just your typical soggy broccoli & carrots that you get most other places, there was 3 meat choices as well as a veggi option, carrots, colliflour cheese, roasts, new pots, green beans, petit pois, Yorkshire salad, roast parsnips, swede mash as well as delicious crackling & homemade stuffing. But to top it off, the Yorkshire puddings! They are massive!
Cannot wait to go again!
Book to avoid disappointment though as it is very busy.

“Best. Sunday. Dinner. In. Ages.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013 via mobile

We are currently staying in the woodland lakes lodges and before we arrived we had heard the Sunday carvery was out of this world we were advised to book as can get busy as lodges are busy at weekends, Wasn't really expecting a great deal as carveries can be abit dull and dry but wow couldn't be more wrong!! The food was to die for, 3 choices of meats and the Yorkshire puddings were bigger then my plate! Really the food was excellent, friendly staff couldn't have asked for more, left feeling stuffed but went to look at the carp pond outside fully stocked with lots of different types of fish, thoroughly enjoyed it and wishes I could have it everyday, even when we went to the sweet shop in thirsk the lady reccomended it, but did say have a Yorkshire pudding starter so you can fit more on your plate!! Good advice haha
