“Wow What a Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Called by chance on way to see gliders at the top of Sutton Bank. Their we're nine of us including the children, the landlord moved two customers so that we could have a large table. The food can only be described as outstanding. If you go you must and I repeat must have the steak pie, don't be tempted by any of the other superb dishes as you will only disappointed that you did not order the pie if you see one.

“Quality Sunday lunch and great pub atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

Glad I booked for Sunday lunch as the place was very busy and was told they had to turn people away. Great service and good sized portions. Lamb shank was falling off the bone and side veges were nicely seasoned. Kids portions were of a good size and nicely presented. Recommend a visit and we will be going back, hopefully pretty soon.

“Sunday Lunch is highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

This is a family run pub offering excellent hospitality and serving 'Yorkshire portions' of fresh, local food. We have visited on a few occasions and have never been disappointed. Their Sunday Lunches are particulary good and highly recommended, follwed by a walk at Sutton Bank!

“Filled a Gap!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We called in recently whilst travelling back home on a cold wet night.
The place was very quiet but did have nice coal fires which were a welcome sight on a cold night. We both decided to try the food and selected from the menu. The menu offerred a decent choice including all the normal selections on the majority of pub menus.
Food arrived quickly, was well cooked with decent size portions.
Best described as your normal pub fare which filled a gap!
Would we call again? Yes we would if passing.
We can't really comment on Atmosphere,Romance or Special Occasions given that it was early on a cold, wet October evening.

“A Sunday staple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012 via mobile

We've been making a pilgrimage to this place for years. It never fails to disappoint.

Sunday roast is where it's at. Hearty portions mean that a starter is for the brave!

If you're out for a walk, and are arriving late for lunch, and are craving lamb, then it is worth calling to reserve a shank. They really are awesome.

Great selection of ales, perfect for refreshing the palate after the sutton bank scramble!

Wonderful, dependable, and always consistently superb!
