“Would we return - YES”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

The reviews on Trip Advisor (which we use everytime we book anywhere) really lived up-to the excellent ratings allocated for this Lodge.
ROOM:- On reflection I wish we'd taken the twin room offered, as this was at the back/side of the hotel with beautiful views over the fields. That aside, the room and the rest of the hotel was spotlessly clean, I'm very fussy when it comes to cleanliness but this allowed me to relax straight into our weekend break.
RESTAURANT AND FOOD . . . food glorious food, it was. The meals we had were wonderful and so much choice, we wish we could have stayed longer just to sample the rest of the menu and if you spend £35 between a couple you were given a free bottle of wine normally retailing at nearly £17 bottle (this might only be applicable at certain times so worth checking when booking). The restaurant was beautifully laid out and had an intimate feel without being intimidating, this is also where the wonderful relaxing breakfast is served.
Cons: Our only gripe about our stay is that the walls are very thin between bedrooms which didn't help when our next-door neighbour had his TV on until 2.30am then again at 6.30am!! I did complain about this and believe if the offending neighbours had not been leaving the next day the Receptionist would have helped us further - but I have to admit our first night was totally ruined by this.
Pros: So many - fab food, fab surroundings, clean hotel and I think the above review gives it in a bit more detail. Visit - you won't be disapointed and please, please eat in the restaurant (my husband says the burger he had was the best ever)!!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the field you may be offered a twin, but if travelling as a couple they do push the bed...

Came across this hotels website when looking for accommodation near thirsk. The receptionist was lovely and explained everything we needed to know before personally showing us to our room. Our room was excellent - I wish my room was as nice! Our room was next to the road but had beautiful views. When we closed the window there was no traffic noise whatsoever. The staff are great at this hotel. When we explained we had to leave early they even prepared us a really nice pack lunch. Customer service is second to none. Thank you!!!!

Stayed with my wife for one night. Impressed from the start, big carpark right next to hotel. Lady on reception told us all we needed, then gentleman showed to our room. Spotlessly clean, apparently been recently refurbished. Took the evening meal in the bar, served by the same couple who were on reception. Appeared they did everything, (with a smile on their faces.). The meal took ages to arrive, but since we had nothing else to do we were fine about it. When it arrived it was very nice indeed. Guess who served us breakfast. The gentleman who had worked reception & bar the night before. Breaklfast was good. At check out there was another lady on reception. A very nice stay, lovely staff, the lodge was obviosly somewhat understaffed but it all happened in the end. Would reccomend and reurn.

We spent a very enjoyable 5 nights at The White Horse Lodge Hotel . On arrival the receptionist showed us to our room ,she was friendly and helpful as were all the staff. Our room was perfectly decorated ,comfortable and spotlessly clean .
The breakfast was good and evening meal excellent , my husband having a steak and myself the homemade steak pie which was delicious .
They did not have newspapers delivered at that time , but the receptionist said she would bring one in for us on her way . On her days off another member of staff brought them in for us .
Being near to Thirsk , Ripon and Northallerton and central for the Dales and the east coast it is an ideal base for seeing North Yorkshire

Room Tip: Our room near the road was a little noisy in the daytime if we had the window open .
